Cindy Crawford, the iconic supermodel who has graced countless magazine covers and runways, has recently opened up about a health condition she has been managing for over a decade. At 60 years old, the former model revealed that she suffers from blepharoptosis, a medical condition that causes droopy eyelids. This issue has had a significant impact on her daily life and professional endeavors, especially in the world of fashion where appearance is everything.

In a recent interview with People, Crawford shared some of the challenges she faced when dealing with this condition. She recalled how, around the time she turned 50, she would often receive early morning calls for work. “They would be like, ‘Are you fine to start at 6:00?’” she said. Her response was always, “I can get up whatever time you want, but my face doesn’t wake up until 9:00, so just don’t plan any closeups or anything.” She explained that on camera, her eyes wouldn’t look as lively as they once did.

Crawford also mentioned that makeup artists struggled to apply eye makeup because her eyelids would droop. “They would have to pick up [my lids] to get the makeup in there,” she said. The situation became more frustrating over time, especially as she continued to work in an industry that values a youthful and alert appearance.

Finding a solution took time, but eventually, Crawford discovered a product that made a difference. Two years ago, her dermatologist recommended Upneeq, an eye drop designed to help lift the eyelids and make the eyes appear more open and awake. “At first, I was only using it for shoots or when I really wanted to be on,” she told People. However, once she realized it could be used every day, she decided to incorporate it into her routine. “Why not?” she said. “It’s one of those little things we can do to feel like the best version of ourselves.”

The product has received positive feedback from experts and users alike. Dr. Dendy Engelman, a dermatologist who did not treat Crawford, explained that as people age, they may experience acquired blepharoptosis, a condition where the muscle controlling the upper eyelid weakens. This, combined with a natural drop in eyebrow positioning, results in a smaller eye aperture. According to People, Upneeq takes just five minutes to apply and can keep the eyes looking more open for up to eight hours.
Crawford emphasized that what she loves about Upneeq is that it’s not a big commitment. “You’re not going under the knife,” she said. For her, the product has been a game-changer, allowing her to maintain confidence and presence in both her personal and professional life.
“Connection has always been about presence and confidence for me, and so much of that is communicated through the eyes,” she said. “Upneeq allows me to continue to show up fully, just as I have throughout my career.”
