Daphne Joy, a 39-year-old influencer, has opened up about her past relationship with Sean “Diddy” Combs, revealing the emotional turmoil she endured. In a statement shared on Instagram Stories, which was later deleted, Joy expressed deep regret and pain over the events that unfolded.
“I just wanted my man at the time to be happy and satisfied … I wanted to fulfill all his desires … even if that meant breaking my own boundaries. I deeply loved him … and I believed he loved me too,” she said. The statement highlights the complex emotions Joy experienced during her four-year relationship with the rapper, who is now facing federal charges including racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
Joy’s relationship with Diddy came to an abrupt end when he was arrested in September 2024. She described the experience as emotionally devastating, stating, “It’s still so painful for me to process the harsh reality and truth of that relationship …. but as time passes and in my quiet moments … I realize that it was far from love.”
The model claimed that the explicit video involving Diddy was filmed without her consent and was later used as a tool for blackmail. “I was threatened that if I didn’t give him a lump sum of money that they would leak it on the web. Once I didn’t, this person eventually sold this tape to a giant media outlet,” she recounted. The situation escalated further when the media outlet contacted her, asking for a comment before the release of the video.
“The media outlet called me one day and said they had the tape and asked if I had any comment before the release … It was the first time I ever fainted in my life,” Joy shared. The experience left her shaken and struggling to cope with the trauma.
According to Joy, the media outlet determined that the video was part of a “revenge p— and extortion scheme,” and ultimately decided not to broadcast it. However, the impact of the incident was profound. “It took me all day to find the courage to rewatch my abuse … having to watch this tape was triggering and painful because only I knew the inner turmoil and pressures of those moments,” she said.
Joy emphasized that she was never in her right mind throughout the relationship. “I was not and was never in my right mind throughout the entirety of that relationship,” she added. “Seeing myself so lost is excruciating.”
Joy also revealed that she believes Diddy was responsible for initiating the recording of the video. “I wish so many things were different, but I can’t take back the hands of time,” she concluded. “I can only continue to move forward and slowly learn to love and trust myself.”
Multiple outlets reported that DJ Vlad, the CEO of Vlad TV, confirmed the authenticity of the video. He referenced an interview he previously conducted with Diggler, who claimed that Combs grabbed his phone and recorded the entire encounter. “That video is 100 percent real. I have no idea where it came from… I don’t think Sly knows where the leak came from, either,” Vlad stated. “Maybe somebody hacked his phone. I’m not sure… You got a guy that… is compensating for it in all types of extreme ways. Unfortunately, some of those ways are violent.”
