Top 10 World Skylines Revealed – None From Europe

The World’s Most Stunning Skylines

From the bustling streets of London to the iconic skyline of New York, and from the vibrant cityscape of Doha to the towering structures of Shanghai, my camera roll is filled with images of skylines. Each one tells a unique story, and if I were to choose just one as the best, it would be a difficult decision.

However, a recent ranking by Radical Storage has provided some clarity. This list evaluates the world’s top skylines based on several key factors, including the average height of the 10 tallest buildings in each city, nighttime visibility, skyscraper density, and the number of award-winning high-rises.

The ranking was compiled by narrowing down the top 100 cities from the Skyscraper Center, which ranks cities based on the number of skyscrapers over 150 metres tall. From this group, only 10 cities made the final cut.

Shenzhen Takes the Crown

Shenzhen, China, has been named the city with the world’s best skyline. With an impressive 679 skyscrapers over 150 metres tall, the city boasts a dense urban landscape that rivals many others. Located just across the border from Hong Kong, Shenzhen also excels in nighttime visibility, with a skyscraper density of 0.39 per square kilometre.

Five other Chinese cities also made the top 10, showcasing the country’s growing influence in the global skyline landscape. Hong Kong came in third, Wuhan fifth, Guangzhou sixth, Shanghai seventh, and Chongqing shared ninth place with Tokyo.

Asian Cities Shine

Other Asian cities also made their mark on the list. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, secured eighth place, while Tokyo, Japan, shared the ninth spot with Chongqing.

Dubai, UAE, claimed second place due to its impressive collection of supertall skyscrapers. The city is home to 32 buildings over 300 metres tall, including the Burj Khalifa—the world’s tallest building at 829.8 metres. Dubai’s skyline is a testament to its ambition and architectural innovation.

New York City, the fourth-ranked city, is renowned for its architectural recognition. The city features 20 award-winning skyscrapers, making it a hub for design and innovation.
