Rams Star Reveals Surprising Off-Field Talent
The off-season for NFL athletes often involves a mix of rest, recovery, and perhaps some light training. However, Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Kobie Turner has used his downtime to showcase a remarkable talent that has left fans and media alike in awe. While known for his prowess on the gridiron, Turner recently unveiled a vocal and instrumental ability that has fans questioning if they’ve been watching the wrong sport.
Turner, a 26-year-old who recently concluded his season with the Rams’ defeat to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship game, surprised many this week by demonstrating his considerable musical gifts. In a video shared to Instagram by singer Alisan Porter, Turner is seen not only harmonising with the accomplished vocalist but also expertly playing the keyboard.
The clip, which has since gained significant traction online, features Turner and Porter performing a duet of Katy Perry’s 2012 hit, “Wide Awake.” Turner’s performance was met with widespread acclaim, with many praising his “rich, silky vocals” and describing his voice as “the voice of an angel.” The visual element of the performance, with both artists donning Rams football helmets and playfully tapping them together at the end, added a touch of lightheartedness to the impressive musical display.

The reaction on social media has been overwhelmingly positive. Fans expressed their delight at Turner’s hidden talent, with one commentator quipping that “Kobie’s voice could fund a Fortune 500 IPO!” The enthusiasm was so high that one user even suggested Turner should perform the national anthem at the Rams’ home opener for the upcoming season, highlighting the significant impact his performance had.
This isn’t the first time Turner has given the public a glimpse into his musical world. He previously appeared on the popular reality competition show The Masked Singer in 2024. During his second season with the Rams, Turner, under the guise of “Goo,” managed to reach the quarterfinals of the show’s 12th season. This achievement marked the furthest any NFL player had ever progressed on the program, underscoring his dedication and skill beyond the football field.
Speaking about his Masked Singer experience at the time, Turner expressed how it served as a validation of his abilities and a message to others. He told ESPN, “It was really validating that this is something that I can do and that I hope is validating for everybody. For anybody who’s trying to do both, if you just put in the sweat equity, you really go after it, that you can do both.”
Turner elaborated on the significance of being able to embrace both his athletic and artistic passions. “And it was kind of a full circle moment because my whole life it’s been, ‘choose.’ Choose football or choose music … But to just truly be able to live in that authentic part of myself and to be able to bring the totality of who I am to the surface was truly special.”
His recent performance with Alisan Porter reinforces this sentiment, demonstrating that athletes can indeed excel in multiple disciplines. Turner’s dual talents not only entertain fans but also serve as an inspiration, proving that passion and hard work can lead to success in diverse fields. As the Rams prepare for their next season, their defensive tackle has certainly given them and their supporters something extra to cheer about, both on and off the field. The question now remains: what other hidden talents might Kobie Turner possess?
