Soap Opera Stars Finalise Divorce While Continuing On-Screen Partnership
Veteran soap opera actors Cady McClain and Jon Lindstrom have officially settled their divorce, marking a new chapter as they continue to collaborate on the burgeoning soap opera, Beyond The Gates. The former couple, who exchanged vows on Valentine’s Day in 2014 and separated in December 2023, have submitted their signed agreement to the court, awaiting final judicial approval to formally dissolve their marriage.
The court documents reveal that both McClain, 56, and Lindstrom, 68, have mutually agreed to waive spousal support. This decision aligns with a growing trend observed among celebrity couples navigating divorce proceedings. In terms of asset division, McClain will retain all assets registered in her name, along with all furniture and personal property. Lindstrom, conversely, will keep his separate assets and properties. Notably, the couple, who famously portrayed the on-screen couple Rosanna Cabot and Craig Montgomery on As The World Turns until its conclusion in 2010, do not share any children.
Their professional lives remain intertwined, as both actors joined the cast of the new CBS soap opera, Beyond The Gates, last year. Lindstrom takes on the role of Joey Armstrong, a tough yet charismatic casino owner, while McClain is cast as Pamela Curtis. The show, which premiered its second season on January 2, sees the former couple continuing to work closely together.
The pair publicly announced the end of their 10-year marriage in April 2024 through a joint statement shared across their respective Instagram accounts. In their announcement, they explained the reasons behind their separation and expressed their commitment to maintaining an amicable relationship post-divorce, aiming to reassure their dedicated fan base.
McClain and Lindstrom acknowledged at the time that their separation might not have come as a complete surprise to some, citing their reduced presence in each other’s social media content as a potential indicator.
Their joint statement read:
“We are taking this opportunity to make a short statement about our relationship status. It may be obvious to some based on our posts that we’ve taken some time apart. After serious consideration, we have decided that our goals have been taking us in different directions and to end our marriage. We remain friends and wish each other every happiness.”
They concluded their message by appealing for privacy during what they described as a challenging period.
“As people who work in the public eye, it can be difficult to have a private life. Regardless, we ask for your kind consideration in this matter.”
The enduring connection between these soap opera favourites first sparked while they were both working on the set of As The World Turns.
A History in Daytime Drama
Jon Lindstrom’s acting career in the soap opera realm predates his marriage to McClain. From 1997 to 2003, he was married to fellow actress Eileen Davidson, renowned for her roles on Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless.
Following this, Lindstrom eventually formed a relationship with Cady McClain, and the couple eventually tied the knot in 2014. Both actors boast extensive and distinguished careers within the demanding landscape of daytime television.
Cady McClain has a rich history with several iconic soap operas. From 2020 to 2023, she portrayed Jennifer Horton on Days of Our Lives. Prior to that, she delighted audiences as Dixie Cooney on All My Children and as Kelly Andrews on The Young and the Restless.
Jon Lindstrom is also a familiar face to soap opera enthusiasts, particularly for his memorable portrayal of dual characters Ryan Chamberlain and Kevin Collins on General Hospital. His return to the genre with Beyond The Gates alongside his former spouse highlights the unique dynamic and enduring appeal of these seasoned performers.
