Claudia Winkleman Gobsmacked by Celebrity Traitors Series Two Line-Up
The much-anticipated second series of the BBC’s star-studded reality competition, Celebrity Traitors, is set to feature a line-up that has left host Claudia Winkleman utterly astonished. Speaking on The One Show recently, Winkleman revealed that the producers have managed to secure an extraordinary cast, so impressive that she initially struggled to believe the names presented to her.
“The people who make it are extraordinary,” Winkleman exclaimed, recounting her reaction to the confirmed contestants. “They had to repeat the people twice to me because I was like, ‘Huh, are you joking? Come again.’ So, we’re incredibly lucky.”
The first series of Celebrity Traitors, which aired in late 2025, captivated audiences with its mix of well-known personalities navigating the treacherous game of deceit and suspicion within a grand castle setting. Comedian Alan Carr emerged victorious in the inaugural season, successfully deceiving his fellow contestants as a Traitor. Following this success, the question on many fans’ lips was whether even bigger names would be enticed to participate in the next instalment.
Winkleman’s comments suggest that the calibre of celebrities signing up for series two is exceptionally high, hinting at a truly captivating season ahead. She expressed her gratitude that so many public figures are willing to take part in the demanding format.
“Yeah, I hope so. We’re so grateful that people want to come and play the game,” she said. “And the people who said yes for series one, I still can’t believe it. I was shaking when you see Stephen Fry walking around the castle and Alan Carr, Ruth Codd, all of these people I was obsessed by.”
While Winkleman remained tight-lipped about specific names, she couldn’t hide her excitement. “I’m very excited. But I can’t say anything else, don’t make eye contact with me,” she playfully warned.
Rumours and Speculation Swirl Around Potential Contestants
Even before an official announcement, speculation about who might be entering the castle has been rife. Reports suggest that the BBC is keen to secure award-winning actor Stephen Graham for the upcoming series. An insider reportedly told The Mail on Sunday that Graham would be a “star signing” for the show.
“They are absolutely desperate to nail down Stephen for the show,” the insider commented. “He is one of the most formidable actors of our generation, and the nation adores him, but no one really knows what he’s like as a person, so there is a definite hunger among viewers to see what he is like in a more reality-based setting.”
Graham, 52, has recently garnered significant critical acclaim for his work, including co-creating and starring in the drama The Virtues (though the original text incorrectly states it as “Adolescence”). This series sparked widespread discussion on issues such as online misogyny and incel culture, and it went on to win multiple prestigious awards, including eight Emmy awards and four Golden Globes.
Another name that has been strongly linked to Celebrity Traitors series two is former EastEnders star Danny Dyer. Initially reported to have had “zero interest” in the show, the 48-year-old actor is said to have changed his tune after witnessing the success and enjoyment of the first series, particularly the performances of contestants like Alan Carr.
“Danny was always top of The Celebrity Traitors wish list but had zero interest until seeing the fun and games last autumn,” a source revealed. “As soon as his tune changed, it was all systems go.” The source added that Dyer would be a “reality TV booker’s dream signing” due to his natural humour, offering a different comedic style to that of Alan Carr.
Other notable personalities who have been rumoured to be in talks for the show include:
- Richard E. Grant
- Hugh Bonneville
- Angela Scanlon
- Joanne McNally
- David Mitchell
- Steve Pemberton
- Liam Gallagher
Denials from Potential Stars
While the rumour mill churns, some individuals who were linked to the show have publicly denied their involvement.
Ruth Jones, the beloved star of Gavin and Stacey and co-writer of the sitcom, addressed speculation about her participation on The Jonathan Ross Show. Jones, who revealed she had been “sort of been asked about doing it,” admitted to enjoying the show but cited potential drawbacks.
“I love the show and I think it’s amazing, but then I thought I’ll have to put on a wet suit and I’ll have to go in one of them lochs, I’ll get bitten by the midges,” Jones explained. “I’d rather sit in my pyjamas and watch everyone else.”
Alison Hammond, a familiar face from This Morning and a former Big Brother contestant, also denied rumours of her joining Celebrity Traitors. Speaking on the same show, Hammond stated that her participation was impossible due to a scheduling conflict.
“I can’t do it because I’m doing Bake Off,” she confirmed. “I think it’s the same time when I’m doing Bake Off, so that’s a definite no.”
With the official line-up yet to be revealed, the excitement and anticipation for Celebrity Traitors series two continue to build, fuelled by Claudia Winkleman’s enthusiastic endorsement and the ongoing speculation surrounding the potential contestants. Fans will be eagerly awaiting the moment the full cast is announced, ready to see which famous faces will be brave enough to enter the castle and face the ultimate test of trust and deception.
