Jude Law’s Seven Kids, Four Moms, and The Chappell Roan Stir

Jude Law: A Look at the Acclaimed Actor’s Seven Children and Their Diverse Paths

For three decades, Jude Law has been a recognisable face on cinema screens worldwide. Beyond his illustrious acting career, the British star’s personal life has been equally eventful, marked by two marriages, a high-profile broken engagement, and the arrival of seven children with four different women. Most recently, Law’s family became unintentionally involved in a public incident with singer Chappell Roan, stemming from an alleged altercation between a security guard and one of his children. This event has brought renewed attention to Law’s extensive family.

The Early Years and First Family

Born David Jude Heyworth Law on December 19, 1972, in London, Law’s passion for performance ignited early. He joined the National Youth Music Theatre at 15 and, by 17, had left school to pursue acting full-time. His early career included a 1994 West End production of Les Parents terribles, followed by its Broadway transfer, which garnered him a Tony Award nomination for best supporting actor. His first leading film role came in the 1994 movie Shopping.

It was on the set of Shopping that Law met Sadie Frost, his co-star who was seven years his senior. Frost, who was married to Gary Kemp of Spandau Ballet at the time and had a son, Finlay, admitted in her autobiography Crazy Days that she initiated the pursuit of Law. Following her divorce from Kemp in 1995, Law and Frost welcomed their first child, Rafferty, in 1996. They married in September 1997, coinciding with the meteoric rise of Law’s career.

The late 1990s saw Law achieve significant critical acclaim, notably with his role in The Talented Mr. Ripley in 1999, earning him a BAFTA for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, along with Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations. Law and Frost divided their time between London, where they were part of the influential “Primrose Hill set,” and the United States. Their second child, daughter Iris, was born in California in 2000, followed by their third child, Rudy, in 2002. However, by January 2003, the couple had separated, with Frost citing Law’s “unreasonable behaviour” as grounds for their divorce, which was finalised later that year.

Rafferty Law: Following in Dad’s Footsteps

Rafferty Law

Rafferty Law, affectionately known as Raff, was born in London on October 6, 1996. After completing his education in England, Rafferty embarked on a career in modelling, gracing runways for brands like DKNY, Dolce & Gabbana, and Valentino. He also pursued his musical talents, becoming a member of the band Outer Stella Overdrive in 2018. In 2021, he made his feature film debut in Twist, and more recently starred in the 2024 Apple TV+ series Masters of the Air.

Now 29, Rafferty bears a striking resemblance to his father. Jude Law has been a supportive, yet not overbearing, presence in his son’s career. Rafferty himself told GQ in 2021, “He’s just happy to see me becoming a young man that he’s proud to call his son.”

Iris Law: A Model and Emerging Actress

Iris Tallulah Elizabeth Law was born on October 25, 2000, in Santa Monica, California. Her godmother is the iconic supermodel Kate Moss. At the tender age of two, Iris was involved in a police investigation after accidentally ingesting part of an ecstasy tablet at a children’s party. She was three when her parents divorced.

Like her older brother, Iris completed her schooling in the UK and went on to study experimental textile design at university. Her career in the fashion world took off in 2017 when she was named a Burberry Beauty ambassador. Two years later, she signed with IMG Models and has since walked for prominent fashion houses including Versace, Roberto Cavalli, and Missoni. In 2021, she became Dior Beauty’s UK ambassador and made her debut as a Victoria’s Secret Angel in 2025.

Iris has also dipped her toes into acting, taking classes and receiving guidance from her father for audition tapes. “I tape [auditions] with my dad. He gives me great tips,” she shared with the Evening Standard in 2021. Her acting credits include the 2021 film I’ve Been Trying to Tell You and the 2022 Hulu miniseries Pistol. Now 25, Iris is a regular on the red carpet, attending events such as the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, the Brit Awards, and the 2024 Met Gala.

Rudy Law: Exploring Acting and Public Appearances

Rudy Indiana Otis Law was born on September 10, 2002, in London, just four months before his parents’ separation. Sadie Frost spoke of their commitment to co-parenting, telling This Is London in 2008, “We have our little community at home how we like to live… And their father is around a lot of the time as well, being very supportive.”

Rudy has shown an interest in acting, appearing in the 2013 short film Dotty alongside his mother and playing Alex in another short film, Into The Pass, in 2023. In 2024, Rudy was photographed with his father at the Brisbane International tennis tournament while Law was in Australia filming a movie. Now 23, Rudy’s social media often features his travels and social life, alongside occasional modelling shots.

The Interlude with Sienna Miller

Jude Law’s relationship with actress Sienna Miller began on the set of the 2004 film Alfie. They became engaged on Christmas Day in 2004, but their relationship was fraught with public scrutiny. Just five months into their engagement, reports surfaced of Law’s infidelity with his children’s nanny, Daisy Wright, which he later admitted to and publicly apologised for. The couple split in November 2006, briefly reunited in 2009, but ultimately ended their relationship in 2011, never having married or had children together.

Sophia Law: A Daughter with a Swimsuit Model

While on a break from his relationship with Miller, Law met American swimsuit model Samantha Burke in a New York nightclub in 2009. After a few dates, they had parted ways when Burke discovered she was pregnant. Law confirmed the news via a statement, stating his intention to be a supportive father. Burke’s lawyer indicated Law was “responsive and supportive throughout the relationship and pregnancy.” Sophia Law was born on September 22, 2009. Law reportedly met his daughter for the first time in Miami in early 2010. Sophia lives with her mother in the US, and the frequency of their contact is not publicly known.

Ada Law: A Musical Connection

Law reportedly met Irish singer-songwriter and television personality Catherine Harding, known professionally as Cat Cavelli, in New York in 2014. Harding described their meeting as an instant connection, but the couple broke up after seven months, by which time Harding was pregnant. A representative for Law confirmed he was expecting another child, emphasising their joint commitment to raising the child despite no longer being in a relationship. Ada Law was born on March 15, 2015. Harding has spoken of Law’s involvement as a father, noting Ada’s resemblance to him and that she sees her siblings. Harding later married Brazilian footballer Jorginho, with whom she has a son.

The recent incident involving Chappell Roan’s security guard allegedly speaking aggressively to Harding and her daughter Ada at a hotel in São Paulo, Brazil, brought this branch of Law’s family into the spotlight. The incident reportedly occurred after Ada looked at the singer during breakfast.

The Modern Family with Phillipa Coan

Jude Law met British-born psychologist Phillipa Coan in 2015 through mutual friends. They married in a private ceremony in London in April 2019. The couple has since welcomed two children, whose details have been kept private. Law confirmed the birth of their first child during a 2020 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, mentioning he had “had a baby” during the COVID lockdown. Their second child was reportedly born in 2023.

GQ confirmed in 2024 that the couple has two children and that Coan and their youngest children often travel with Law to his filming locations, including Australia. The family of four was spotted at Sydney Airport in February 2024 while Law was working on the film Eden. Both Rafferty and Iris were present with Phillipa Coan to support Law when he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2024.
