A Night of Glamour and Reflection
Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep made a stunning appearance at the Shanghai premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2, the long-awaited sequel to the iconic 2006 film. The event, held in China’s largest city, marked a significant moment for the film industry as it prepared to launch across the United Kingdom and United States in May. Both stars were present, showcasing their signature elegance on the red carpet.
Hathaway, 43, turned heads in a sweeping feathered evening gown paired with perspex heels. She was seen posing for photos alongside her co-star Meryl Streep, 76, who dazzled in a tasteful blue satin dress and accessories from CINDY CHAO jewellery, complemented by heels from Alexandre Birman. Their presence highlighted the film’s return to the world of high fashion, where they once played pivotal roles.

Despite the glamour, much of the attention focused on Hathaway’s youthful appearance, which has sparked ongoing speculation about whether she has undergone cosmetic procedures. Fans have suggested she may have had treatments such as Botox, fillers, or even a “ponytail lift.” However, Hathaway has never confirmed any such interventions. In 2008, she admitted feeling pressure to conform to traditional beauty standards, even considering a nose job. Two years later, she firmly stated she would never use Botox, as she wanted to keep the same smile she had as a child.
She has consistently avoided discussing any procedures, once telling Vogue France that questions about surgery are “an extremely intimate question.” Yet, she expressed no judgment toward those who choose to undergo cosmetic procedures, saying, “Whatever means they find to not live crushed by shame or a lack of self-confidence… I say bravo.”

During a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Hathaway declined to discuss medical information but credited her radiant complexion to quitting alcohol and using products from Shiseido, for which she is a brand ambassador. Despite her enviable looks, she admitted to having days when she struggled with her body image.
“I was having a ‘What?’ day,” she said. “And you know how you have your aspirational swimsuit that you keep around, just in case you have a good day? And then you have your swimsuit that’s got you no matter what? I accidentally packed the aspirational swimsuit.”

Hathaway described the emotional journey of accepting her aging body, stating, “When I was expecting to see something that I am not, I felt insecure. But when I actually looked at what it actually is, I was okay with it.” She emphasized that worry should be reserved for more significant issues, and she finds happiness in her 40s, enjoying the new gear she has discovered in life.

The sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2, reunites Hathaway, Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci as they return to the high-stakes world of fashion. This time, the story takes a modern twist, with Streep’s character Miranda facing challenges in the declining print media landscape while competing against Blunt’s powerful executive, Emily Charlton.
The film also introduces new faces, including Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, and Justin Theroux. With the original 2006 film earning over $300 million worldwide and becoming a cult classic, fans are eager to see how the sequel will bring back the glamour and drama of the fashion world.

As the cast prepares for the release, their public appearances continue to draw attention—not just for the film, but for the personal stories and reflections shared along the way.
