A Journey of Perseverance and Ambition
Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku has opened up about the incredible journey his team has undertaken, reaching a record fourth successive FA Cup final. For the 23-year-old Belgium international, the magnitude of this achievement is still sinking in, despite the team’s consistent success over the years.
Doku joined City in the summer of 2023 following their FA Cup triumph over Manchester United. Since then, he has experienced the heartbreak of defeat in two previous Wembley finals, first against United in 2024 and then against Crystal Palace last year. Despite these setbacks, he remains focused on securing the trophy for himself and the team.
“I think we as a squad don’t realise what we are doing – fourth time in a row, it’s unbelievable,” Doku said. “Fair play to everyone in the club. Every year being there after playing against good teams but still reaching the final every time.”

In the recent semi-final against Southampton, Doku scored City’s equaliser in their 2-1 victory. This performance has further fueled his determination to lift the cup. “Now we want to win. I’ve not won it yet and it’s something I want to win. It’s something special,” he added.
City’s pursuit of the FA Cup comes at a crucial time, as they aim for a potential domestic treble. The final coincides with the closing stages of the Premier League title race, where they currently sit three points behind leaders Arsenal, who have played an additional game.
Despite the challenge, Doku remains confident in the team’s ability to secure the title. “We know we have the squad to do it. It depends on us – it’s in our hands. We have to play well and focus on ourselves,” he said.
The final will see City face Chelsea, who defeated Leeds United 1-0 on Sunday. Before that, however, the team must focus on chasing down Arsenal in the league. City will return to Premier League action next Monday when they face Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The Road Ahead
As the season reaches its climax, the pressure is on City to deliver on all fronts. The FA Cup final represents not just a chance to add another trophy to their collection, but also a statement of intent in the title race. For Doku, the opportunity to finally win the FA Cup is a personal goal that drives him forward.
The journey to this point has been marked by resilience, skill, and an unyielding belief in the team’s capabilities. With each match, the players continue to prove that they are capable of achieving great things, even in the face of adversity.
For fans and supporters, the excitement surrounding the upcoming matches is palpable. The combination of a historic FA Cup run and a fierce title battle creates an atmosphere of anticipation and hope. As the team prepares for the final showdown, the focus remains on delivering performances that reflect the high standards set by Pep Guardiola and the entire squad.
With the right mindset and execution, City has the potential to make history once again. Whether it’s lifting the FA Cup or securing the Premier League title, the team is determined to leave no stone unturned in their quest for success. For Doku and his teammates, the journey continues, and the goal remains clear: to win.
