Major Spoilers Ahead
Euphoria season three has been a rollercoaster of shocking moments, and episode five might have just taken the cake by potentially killing off one of its most beloved characters.
After Cassie (played by Sydney Sweeney) teams up with Maddy (Alexa Demie) to start her adult content career, Rue (Zendaya) finds herself in a precarious situation. She is recruited by the police to act as a spy and uncover the truth about what’s happening at the Silver Slipper.
In episode five, titled ‘This Little Piggy’, Cassie’s OnlyFans venture continues to gain momentum, even earning her an invitation to join Brandon’s content house. She gradually starts paying off Nate’s debt, but it turns out that his debts are not being cleared as quickly as expected. This leads to a tragic outcome where Nate loses a finger, leaving fans wondering if this is just another example of the show’s unpredictable nature.
Meanwhile, Rue’s situation takes a dark turn. Magick (played by Rosalia) manages to convince Alamo that Rue is the snitch. This is confirmed towards the end of the episode when Rue is taken to the same cliff where she was previously threatened with a gun. She is instructed to dig a deep hole, which seems to foreshadow a grim fate.
Fans were left in shock after the episode aired. One viewer asked, “Did he just kill Rue?” while another commented, “No matter how bad your day is, Rue will always have it worse in Euphoria.”
Sam Levinson, the creator of Euphoria, is no stranger to delivering shocking twists. The episode ends with Rue digging a hole deep enough to reach her throat, before being buried with only her head visible. Alamo then rides his horse towards her, swinging a polo mallet, but the outcome remains unclear.
With still three episodes left in the season and Alamo forming a new connection with Maddy, it’s unlikely that Rue will be killed off at this point. However, the suspense is palpable, and fans are eagerly waiting for the next developments.
Euphoria streams weekly on HBO.
