Earlier this year at CES 2026, Dell shared its vision to make the Alienware brand more approachable for gamers who don’t want to spend premium prices. Following the release of a $350 QD-OLED monitor last month, the company is now extending this strategy to its laptops with the introduction of the new Alienware 15.
Dell Alienware 15 Specifications
One of the most significant changes to the Alienware 15 is its design. For many years, Alienware laptops have featured a large thermal shelf on the back. This has been completely removed in the new model, resulting in a more conventional laptop shape with a 180-degree hinge.
The chassis is constructed from black polycarbonate instead of metal, keeping the weight around 4.96 pounds. The iconic glowing Alien head remains on the lid, but otherwise, the laptop appears similar to standard models, making it easy to fit into a regular backpack.
Inside, the Alienware 15 offers a range of current-generation processors. Users can choose between AMD Ryzen 5 220 or Ryzen 7 260 chips, or opt for Intel Core 5 210H or Core 7 240H processors.
For graphics, the options include older entry-level cards like the RTX 3050 and 4050, as well as newer Nvidia RTX 5050 and 5060 GPUs. The RTX 50-series cards are limited to an 85W maximum power draw, which aligns with the smaller cooling system in the redesigned chassis. Memory and storage are straightforward, featuring two upgradeable DDR5 RAM slots and up to a 1TB Gen 4 NVMe SSD.

To keep costs low, Dell had to make some trade-offs, and the display is the most noticeable one. The 15.3-inch screen has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 and a 165Hz refresh rate, which is suitable for standard gaming. However, it only reaches 300 nits of brightness and covers just 62.5% of the sRGB color space. While it works well for indoor gaming, it isn’t ideal for photo or video editing tasks.
Port selection is practical, including an Ethernet jack, HDMI 2.1, two USB-A ports, and two USB-C ports, one of which supports 100W charging.

Dell is positioning the Alienware 15 within its new Core tier, placing it below the mid-range Aurora models and the high-end Area-51 laptops. The starting price is $1,299 for the AMD variants and $1,349 for the Intel models. While not a high-end machine, the Alienware 15 offers a solid option for gamers looking for performance without the premium price tag. By eliminating expensive materials and using a basic display, Dell has created a straightforward laptop that meets the needs of casual gamers.
In related news, Lenovo recently launched the Legion Y7000X 2026 gaming laptop, powered by the Intel Core Ultra 7 251HX processor and Nvidia RTX 5060 GPU.
