New Allegations Against the Duke of York
A new book by royal biographer Andrew Lownie has brought fresh attention to the conduct and reputation of the Duke of York, adding to a long history of scrutiny surrounding the royal. The book, titled The Rise and Fall of the House of York, includes claims that have sparked significant debate.
Claims in the Book
According to Lownie’s account, the alleged incident occurred during a pheasant shoot at a Norfolk estate, where friends of the Royal Family were present. The author describes a moment when guests paused for refreshments, and the Duke’s Labrador reportedly took a sausage roll from a visitor’s hand.
Lownie claims that the royal reacted by “kicking the dog in the head, leaving her whimpering on the ground.” A shocked guest reportedly responded: “That is the most disgusting thing that you have just done to your beautiful dog. You should be ashamed of yourself!”
Heated Exchange
Lownie alleges that the Duke replied with a profanity-laced response: “F*** off. It is none of your business and I will do precisely what I want to my dogs.” The author further notes that other members of the shooting party later showed approval toward the guest for challenging the prince.
In the book, Lownie also claims that Prince Philip approached the guest and said: “What you said to my son today was absolutely right and Her Majesty and I fully agree with what you said. Andrew needs a good scolding from time to time.”
These claims have not been independently verified, and the validity of the allegations remains under question.
Earlier Accusations
This is not the first time the Duke of York has faced accusations of inappropriate behavior. Royal author Tom Bower has previously made separate allegations about the prince’s conduct during his time as a UK trade representative.
Speaking to the Daily Expresso, Bower recalled an incident in Warsaw involving a British diplomat with a visible disability. According to Bower, the Duke shouted: “What the f*** are you cripple doing coming to interrupt me?”
Bower added: “That is the way that Andrew behaved. A really shocking, shocking, selfish, stupid man.”
Ongoing Criticism
Andrew has faced repeated criticism in recent years over both his personal conduct and his role within the Royal Family. These allegations continue to fuel public debate about the standards expected of members of the monarchy.
