Alexa Chung and Tom Sturridge Make a Statement at Cannes Film Festival
Alexa Chung, the renowned presenter and fashion icon, recently made headlines as she accompanied her boyfriend, actor Tom Sturridge, at the 79th Cannes Film Festival. The couple was spotted together on the red carpet for the official screening of The Man I Love, a film in which Sturridge stars alongside Oscar winner Rami Malek.
Dressed in a daring lace and satin gown featuring a plunging front and a sheer black lace skirt, Alexa commanded attention with her elegant style. As they walked the Promenade de la Croisette, she shared a lingering kiss with Tom, showing her support for his latest project. However, Tom chose to focus on his role in the film, appearing solo on the red carpet before joining Rami Malek, Luther Ford, and director Ira Sachs for group photos.
The Man I Love has been nominated for two prestigious awards at this year’s festival: the Palme d’Or and the Queer Palm. Set in late 1980s New York City, the film follows Rami’s character, Jimmy George, an actor facing a life-threatening illness who takes on what may be his final major role.

Demi Moore Makes a Glamorous Appearance
Demi Moore, a member of this year’s jury, made a stunning appearance at the festival in a glamorous white gown paired with a black flowing scarf. Her presence added to the star-studded atmosphere of the event.
This wasn’t the first time Alexa and Tom have appeared together publicly. Their last joint appearance was at the Met Gala earlier this month. In 2024, there were reports that the couple had become engaged, although neither has officially confirmed it. Earlier in 2023, they were seen wearing matching rings, sparking engagement rumours. A source reportedly told The Sun that Alexa had confirmed her engagement to Tom, expressing her happiness and excitement about their future.
“They’re a great match,” the source said. “They have been hard at work planning a wedding with all of their close pals there. It won’t be a massive over-the-top affair but a smaller, classier and cooler bash.”

A Star-Studded Jury
This year’s Cannes Film Festival jury includes notable figures such as Hamnet director Chloé Zhao and actor Stellan Skarsgård. Alongside them is Demi Moore, who joins the panel as a jury member. The nine-member jury also features Irish-Ethiopian actor Ruth Negga, Belgian director Laura Wandel, Chilean director Diego Céspedes, Ivorian American actor Isaach De Bankolé, and Scottish screenwriter Paul Laverty.
South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook serves as the president of the jury. Speaking at the opening press conference, Demi Moore expressed her excitement about being part of the festival.
“I feel tremendously honoured to be here,” she said. “It’s such a beautiful experience and one just to be surrounded by cinema and the love of cinema, and the joy of diving in and being surrounded by those who share that is just – I just felt like a joy.”

Honoring Cinematic Excellence
This year’s Cannes Film Festival paid tribute to filmmaker Peter Jackson, who was awarded the Palme d’Or. Organizers recognized Jackson for his “body of work that blends Hollywood blockbusters and films d’auteur with extraordinary artistic vision and technological audacity.” The Lord of the Rings director called the honor “one of the greatest privileges of my career.”
Last year, the festival gave honorary Palme d’Or prizes to Robert De Niro and Denzel Washington. This year’s edition will run for twelve days, from May 12 to May 23.
