Jaxson Dart Addresses Locker Room Controversy
New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart has taken steps to address the growing tension within the team following his appearance at a Trump rally. The incident, which sparked significant backlash, led to discussions among teammates and raised questions about the future of the franchise.
Dart’s involvement in the event came under scrutiny when he introduced Donald Trump at a MAGA rally in Suffern, New York. This move drew criticism from various quarters, including within the Giants’ own locker room. Teammate Abdul Carter was one of the most vocal critics, taking to social media to express his disapproval of Dart’s political actions.
In response to the controversy, Dart called a meeting with his teammates on Wednesday. According to NFL insiders Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport, this meeting was an opportunity for the quarterback to discuss the situation and work towards moving forward as a team. The players reportedly focused on putting the issue behind them and preparing for the upcoming 2026 NFL season.

Other team leaders, including Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and fellow quarterback Jameis Winston, also participated in the discussion. The meeting took place during the first day of Phase 2 of OTAs, which are voluntary practice sessions for veterans. It remains unclear whether Carter attended the training session.
The day after Dart’s appearance, Carter commented on a clip of the interaction, writing: “Thought this s*** was AI, what we doing man.” He later clarified that he and Dart were “good,” stating they had spoken “as men.”
For new Giants head coach John Harbaugh, the situation could not have come at a worse time. As he prepares for his first season with the team, any internal unrest could hinder efforts to turn around the franchise’s fortunes. Both Dart and Carter are expected to play crucial roles in this endeavor.
Dart’s decision to introduce Trump at Rockland Community College was unexpected. During the event, he expressed his gratitude and honor in introducing the former president. Trump then took the stage to the tune of Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA,” where he praised Dart’s physical appearance, commenting on his legs and joking about their size.

The incident attracted widespread criticism beyond the Giants’ locker room. The View’s Joy Behar criticized Dart, calling him “stupid” and “racist” for supporting a figure with a controversial history. She pointed out Trump’s past actions related to discrimination and racism, emphasizing the implications for a team with a significant percentage of Black players.
However, not everyone shared this view. Former Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes defended Dart, highlighting the importance of the locker room as a space for unity. He criticized Carter for publicly calling out a teammate over political views, calling it “nasty work.”
As the Giants look to move forward, the focus will be on rebuilding trust and focusing on the upcoming season. The events surrounding Dart’s appearance serve as a reminder of the challenges that come with balancing personal beliefs and professional responsibilities in the public eye.
