No doubt about it as Dockers star soars higher

Amiss, Voss, and Treacy Form Unstoppable Forward Line for Fremantle

Fremantle’s star forward Jye Amiss has been a key figure in the team’s recent success, and he remains confident in the effectiveness of the club’s three-headed monster in attack. Despite initial doubts from critics about the strategy, Amiss insists he never questioned whether the trio would deliver.

The Dockers (11-1) have shown their strength by dismantling reigning premiers Brisbane in a recent match, with Amiss, Patrick Voss, and Josh Treacy combining for 11 of the team’s 15 goals. This performance highlights the growing synergy among the forwards, who have all consistently contributed to the team’s record-breaking 11-game winning streak.

Amiss, who is one of the top contenders for the Coleman Medal with 30 goals this season, and Treacy, who has scored 28 goals, are both on track for career-best performances. Meanwhile, Voss, who joined the club in 2024, has also made an impact, adding defensive responsibilities to his game.

Adjusting to a New Strategy

Initially, there were concerns about coach Justin Longmuir’s decision to use three tall forwards in attack, especially after the team failed to make the finals last season. The coach also frequently included two recognized ruckmen in the lineup. However, Amiss, who admitted it took time to adjust to the new setup, never doubted the system would work.

“I definitely didn’t think that way,” Amiss said. “It was more about how we could make this work really well.”

He explained that the team faced some challenges when implementing new structures last year but emphasized the importance of having another pre-season together to build camaraderie. This effort has paid off, with the attacking trio now performing at a high level.

Rising Stars and Career Growth

The bond between the three forwards has helped Amiss, a fifth-year player and the No.8 overall pick in the 2021 draft, reach a new level in his career. He is currently on track for a career-high goal tally this season, having scored 41 in his second year with Fremantle, followed by 36 and 32 goals in the past two seasons.

Treacy is also having a standout season, averaging a career-best 2.33 goals per game in 2026. Voss, meanwhile, has expanded his role by playing defensive duties against leading opposition intercept defenders.

“We feel like when we walk out there as a three, we’ll really put up a fight,” Amiss said. “It started with me and Josh, and then Paddy came onto the scene last year and had a really good year.”

Teamwork and Competition

Amiss highlighted the competitive nature of the trio, explaining how they push each other every day in training. They often start their sessions with touch drills and focus on being physically demanding to improve their skills.

“We’re all a little bit different, but in the same way,” Amiss added.

However, not everything has been smooth sailing. Treacy is currently facing a $1500 fine for “staging” during the win over Brisbane, after he dived forward following contact from opponent Harris Andrews. His fate will be determined on Wednesday.

Fremantle is set to face North Melbourne at Hands Oval in Bunbury on Saturday, with the team looking to continue its impressive form.
