Prince George to Attend Eton College
It has been officially confirmed that Prince George will be enrolling at Eton College this September. The prestigious all-boys boarding school will be the next step in the young royal’s education, bringing an end to months of speculation about where the 12-year-old would continue his studies.

The news was first reported by royal correspondent Phil Dampier, who exclusively shared with Woman’s Day that George was “almost certain” to attend Eton. In a column published in February, Phil wrote: “A good source has told me it’s almost certain George will follow in his father’s footsteps and go to Eton in September.” His prediction proved accurate.
In a statement released by Kensington Palace, it was confirmed that Prince George will begin his studies at Eton College from this September. The decision reflects a long-standing tradition within the royal family, as both Prince William and Prince Harry attended the same institution. Additionally, Princess Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, is also an Old Etonian. Eton College has a rich history, having produced 20 British prime ministers. The annual tuition fee is approximately AUD$125,000.

While many had speculated that William and Kate might choose a co-educational school for their son, tradition ultimately prevailed. Some had even suggested that George could follow in his mother’s footsteps by attending Marlborough College, which she attended. However, the couple opted for Eton instead.
Phil Dampier revealed that the couple had considered several options, including schools in North London and Marlborough, before making their final decision. Eton is also conveniently located near the family’s home at Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park, meaning George won’t be too far from his parents and siblings despite boarding. He will turn 13 on July 22 and will finish his current schooling at Lambrook School on July 4, where he has been studying alongside Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8, since 2022.

As George prepares to start his new chapter at Eton, it’s clear that his father, Prince William, holds fond memories of his own time at the school. At the end of his schooling, aged 18, William reflected on his experience: “I’ve really enjoyed being able to go about Eton as just another student.” It’s hoped that George will have a similar experience during his time at the college.
The announcement marks a significant milestone in Prince George’s life, continuing a legacy that has shaped the royal family for generations. As he steps into this new phase of his education, the world watches closely to see how the future king adapts to the traditions and challenges of Eton College.
