Terri Irwin Shares Insights on Her Son’s Distinctive Traits
Terri Irwin, the wife of the late Steve Irwin, known as the ‘Crocodile Hunter,’ has shared some interesting observations about her son, Robert. She highlighted a key difference between her husband and their son, which she found amusing.
During the recent Steve Irwin Gala in Las Vegas, Terri joked with Robert, saying, “I will say that the thing that Robert’s got that Steve didn’t: Steve never took his shirt off for wildlife.” Robert responded with a cheeky remark, “Whatever gets the job done.”
This lighthearted exchange was reported by Yahoo Lifestyle Australia. Terri’s comment appeared to reference Robert’s well-known ‘thirst trap’ underwear campaign. The TV host made waves in April last year when he posed in a series of steamy photos promoting the Australian underwear brand Bonds in the US. Since then, Robert has continued to showcase his physique, including a shirtless salsa routine on Dancing with the Stars US in September 2022.
At the charity event, which supports wildlife conservation, Terri paid tribute to her late husband and their life together at Australia Zoo. She reflected on the challenges and joys they experienced, saying, “It was a lot of work, it was a lot of grief. There were times of great joy.” She added, “And to be able to have shared that with him was incredibly special – and carry it on.”
Robert, who is currently a mainstream TV presenter in Australia as co-host of ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here,’ continues to be involved with the Irwin family’s Australia Zoo. His sister, Bindi Irwin, and her husband, Chandler Powell, live with their five-year-old daughter, Grace Warrior, at the sanctuary, where they are heavily involved in the operations.
Steve Irwin’s legacy lives on through his family. After the celebrity conservationist died in 2006 from a stingray attack while filming underwater, his family continued his life’s work.
Recently, Robert’s Dancing with the Stars spin-off wrapped filming in Brisbane. However, insiders have noted that Terri was notably absent during the production of the show. This has been a significant change from her usual presence behind the scenes, where she has been known as a ‘helicopter mum’ supporting her son during the last two seasons of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here.
Despite this, Terri has been seen cheering Robert on during previous events. For example, she supported him when he won Dancing with the Stars US last year alongside Witney Carson. However, according to exclusive sources, there has been no indication that Terri visited the set of Robert’s new show, Dancing with the Stars – The Next Pro.
Although some of the series was filmed at the Irwin family’s Australia Zoo, it is understood that Terri did not appear in any of the scenes shot there. A source unfamiliar with the footage mentioned that the show will remain in post-production for several weeks.
“There is a chance that Terri might have filmed a cameo [secretly], but that is unlikely,” the source said.
Terri’s absence has not gone unnoticed. A source close to the production told the Daily Mail that “Terri hasn’t been around during filming at all,” adding, “It’s quite a change from what people are used to.”
The Disney/BBC production features hopefuls trying out for a role on Dancing with the Stars. All the cast members are based in America and are competing for a spot as a professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars US.
