Sir Rod Stewart Cancels Las Vegas Concerts Due to Health Issue
Sir Rod Stewart, the iconic British rock legend, has had to cancel two of his scheduled concerts at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The shows, which were set for last Friday and Saturday, have been postponed due to a health issue. At 81 years old, Stewart has always been known for his energetic performances, but this time, he has chosen to prioritize his well-being.
In a statement released through the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Stewart expressed his regret over the cancellation. “My apologies to my family of fans,” he said. “I am on vocal rest as I recover from a sinus infection. I look forward to seeing you at a future show at Caesars Palace or on tour this summer.”
The singer is expected to resume his residency in Nevada this Tuesday, provided he feels well enough. Ticketmaster has already issued full refunds to concertgoers who had purchased tickets for the canceled events. This comes as no surprise, given that Stewart has faced similar health challenges in the past.
A History of Health Challenges
It’s been nearly a year since Stewart’s health issues forced him to cancel three of his Colosseum concerts. At the time, he had to take a break to recover from the flu. However, despite these setbacks, the Grammy-winning artist remains optimistic about his future in music.
In 2024, Stewart made headlines when he declared that he would no longer stage large-scale world tours. Instead, he plans to focus on smaller venues, aiming for more intimacy with his fans. However, he emphasized that retiring is not on the horizon. “I love what I do, and I do what I love,” he said.
Staying Fit and Active
Stewart’s commitment to fitness is well-documented. The Swing Fever singer, who boasts 1.7 million Instagram followers, claims to be in excellent shape. He mentioned that he can run 100 meters in 18 seconds on his private track. Additionally, he keeps fit in his “massive” gym and indoor pool located at his 10-bedroom 18th-century, Grade II-listed manor, Durrington House, in Essex, England.
“I keep myself very fit,” Stewart told AARP last year. “I played soccer all my life – don’t so much anymore, because I had a knee replacement. And I’ve always had a trainer – same guy for 38 years.”
His training routine includes underwater exercises, where his trainer throws a brick into the pool and he has to dive in, push the brick to the end of the pool, and come up. This unique form of exercise helps maintain his physical strength and endurance.
Continued Success in Music
Despite his age, Stewart continues to enjoy massive success in the music industry. He still pulls in 15.4 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and his career spans over six decades. Since his debut in 1963, he has sold more than 120 million records worldwide.
Known for hits like Baby Jane, Maggie May, Have I Told You Lately, This Old Heart of Mine, Forever Young, and Da Ya Think I’m Sexy (which he famously ripped off from Brazilian musician Jorge Ben Jor), Stewart remains a household name in the world of rock and roll.
