Louise Thompson finds her lost engagement ring after two years

Louise Thompson Shares Emotional Update on Her Health and Engagement Ring Recovery

Louise Thompson, a well-known figure from Made In Chelsea, has shared an emotional update about her life, including the long-awaited return of her engagement ring and her ongoing recovery from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The 36-year-old star recently revealed that she found her engagement ring after it had been missing for over two years, sparking a conversation with her partner, Ryan Libbey, about their future.

The couple had planned to get married in 2019 after getting engaged in August 2018. However, they called off the wedding six months before the scheduled date, following a difficult period marked by the birth of their son, Leo, and subsequent health challenges. Despite this, the pair have continued to work through their relationship and recently discussed their plans on their podcast He Said She Said.

During the episode, Louise excitedly showed off her newly-found ring and asked Ryan, “Does this mean we need to get married?” She admitted that it had been strange walking around without anything on her ring finger, especially when she felt someone was checking her out at a restaurant. “If not, people might think we are on a family holiday,” she joked.

A Journey of Healing and Resilience

Louise’s recent journey has been one of resilience, particularly in her battle with Ulcerative Colitis, a chronic bowel condition that led to a life-changing procedure in April 2024. During a trip to Antigua, she experienced severe symptoms that forced her to cut the vacation short and return home for emergency surgery. The experience left her with a stoma, a surgically created opening on her abdomen to divert waste into a medical device.

Despite the challenges, Louise has made significant progress in her recovery. Recently, she returned to Antigua with her son, Leo, and partner Ryan, describing it as a beautiful opportunity to re-write her memories in better health. She shared a heartfelt caption on social media, detailing her emotions and the significance of the trip.

“I don’t know where to begin, but Antigua is very, very nice,” she wrote. “I actually came out here 2 years ago but the trip was cut short because I had to fly back home to have my colon removed after reaching fulminant ulcerative colitis.”

Louise also reflected on the impact of her PTSD, explaining how traveling with the condition can be challenging. However, she expressed that she hasn’t felt unwell once during their two-week stay. “I feel like I’ve turned a major corner in my recovery and I’m unimaginably happy about it,” she said.

A New Chapter in Health and Family Life

Louise’s journey has also included a unique bond with her stoma, which she affectionately named “Winnie” in honor of Winnie the Pooh. On the anniversary of having the stoma fitted, she shared an emotional video expressing both gratitude and resentment for the device that changed her life.

She also touched on the connection between gut health and mental well-being, noting that 90-95% of serotonin is produced in the gut. “It’s unsurprising that when I was physically unwell for all that time my mental state was absolutely cooked,” she explained.

Louise has taken steps to support her recovery, bringing along various remedies such as probiotics, magnesium balm, and herbal teas. She even mentioned a “newfound dream cream for fissures,” highlighting how far she has come in managing her condition.

Looking Ahead

Despite the challenges, Louise remains optimistic about the future. She described her current lifestyle as one filled with movement, sunlight, seafood, and plenty of sleep. “Lots of it. Oh and little to no screen time,” she added.

Her journey serves as a source of hope for others going through similar struggles. “I hope this lil update provides hope to anyone going through the wringer atm,” she said.

As Louise continues to heal and rebuild her life, her story is a testament to resilience, love, and the power of perseverance.
