A Special Cameo in Hulk Hogan’s Final Documentary
Hulk Hogan, the legendary wrestler known for his iconic persona and larger-than-life presence, is set to make a final appearance in a documentary that has been in the works for years. The film, titled Hulk Hogan: Real American, will premiere on Netflix on April 22 and features a special surprise cameo from former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea, passed away in July of last year at the age of 71 due to a heart attack. Before his death, he had already recorded more than 20 hours of interviews for the documentary, which had been in development since 2024. The project has now become his final interview, offering a glimpse into his life, career, and relationships.

A Unique Collaboration with a Former President
Bryan Storkel, the director of the documentary, shared an unusual story about how Trump became involved in the project. He recalled the surreal moment when Hogan decided to reach out to the former president.
“It was clear [Hogan] had a relationship with Trump… at one point I was like, ‘Yeah, we should get Trump.’ And he was like, ‘Well, let me call him right now.’ And he just dialed him,” Storkel told the New York Post. “There were a couple times where we’re just on speakerphone with Trump, and I’m going, ‘What’s going on here? I’m sitting in a car with Hulk Hogan. He’s talking to the sitting president of the United States. What crazy world did I get myself into?’”
Storkel even traveled to the White House in May of last year, just a few months before Hogan’s passing, when Trump gave 20 minutes of his time for the documentary. During that visit, Trump was reportedly dealing with other matters, including a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

A Message from the President
In the documentary, Hogan is shown listening to a voicemail from Trump, who thanked him for his speech endorsing the former president at the 2024 Republican National Convention. Hogan famously removed his shirt to reveal a Trump-Vance tank top during the event.
“Just seeing his reaction to Trump’s voicemail as he’s listening to it, you can tell he’s proud of it. It also just shows how close their relationship was, whether you love that or hate that, it was there,” Storkel said.
After Hogan’s passing, Trump paid tribute to the wrestling legend on social media, calling him a “great friend” and praising his “absolutely electric speech” from the convention.
A Deep Dive into Hogan’s Life
The documentary also delves into Hogan’s personal life, including his unwavering love for his fans and his remarkable pain tolerance. Storkel revealed that Hogan had an extreme fentanyl regimen to manage the pain from his 35-year wrestling career. This included two 80 mg pills in his mouth, two 300-mg patches on his legs, and six 1,500-mg lollipops to eat.
The trailer for the documentary dropped earlier this month, capturing Hogan’s reflections in his final interview. In a voiceover, he says, “I can’t predict what the final act of the story is gonna be. But the legend of Hulk Hogan will live forever.”
He also shares his thoughts on the public perception of him, saying, “Some people hate me, but after I’m gone, I think people don’t know the truth. Who was this guy really? I really was here for a reason more than just wrestling.”
A Comprehensive Look at the Man Behind the Legend
Hulk Hogan: Real American promises to uncover the man behind the legend by featuring interviews with his friends, peers, and his ex-wife Linda Hogan. The documentary offers a rare and unfiltered look into the life of one of wrestling’s most iconic figures, providing insight into both his professional and personal journey.
The film serves as a fitting tribute to a man who left an indelible mark on the world of entertainment and beyond.
