A Growing Tradition of Fitness and Family Fun
HARARE, Apr. 27 — Musabvunda Fitness and Lifestyle is preparing to host the fourth edition of its highly anticipated event, which has gained significant momentum thanks to a major sponsorship deal with First Mutual. The insurer, through its First Care Health Medical division, has become the title sponsor for the 2026 edition of the event.
Now rebranded as the First Care Musabvunda Half Marathon and Family Fun Day, the event will take place on May 10 at Blakiston Primary School in Milton Park. The day-long celebration begins at 5:30am and continues into the evening, offering a mix of competitive road running and family-friendly entertainment.
Founder Kudzai Pasipanodya, known to many as “Greatkhalister,” expressed his excitement about the partnership. “Securing a title sponsor is a major step for us. We are grateful to First Care Health Medical for coming on board,” he said.
The half marathon is the highlight of the morning session, followed by a transition into a family-oriented celebration that coincides with Mother’s Day. “It’s about fitness and family. We’ve built this event around Mother’s Day to bring people together, with games for both children and adults,” Pasipanodya explained.
A Star-Studded Entertainment Lineup
The event promises an exciting lineup of entertainment, featuring well-known artists such as Baba Harare, Ex-Q, Voltz JT, Tryson Chimbetu, and Silent Killer. These performances add to the vibrant atmosphere that draws participants and spectators alike.
In addition to the entertainment, the race serves as a crucial training opportunity for serious runners aiming to prepare for the Comrades Marathon. “This is our fourth edition and it keeps growing. We are targeting about 5,000 participants, with many using it to prepare for Comrades,” Pasipanodya noted.
Looking ahead, the organizers have plans to introduce additional disciplines in future editions, including bodybuilding. This expansion reflects the event’s commitment to promoting a holistic approach to health and wellness.
Corporate Backing and Community Impact
The event is supported by a range of partners, including Seeff, Crown Pharmacy, Tanganda, Goldtech, Zimgold, and Zithatha Group. These collaborations help ensure the event runs smoothly while also contributing to the broader community.
Beyond the physical activities, the organizers emphasize the importance of mental wellness and awareness around drug and substance abuse. By combining sport with social responsibility, the event aims to make a positive impact on the lives of participants and their families.
Ticket Information and Expectations
Tickets for the event are available at different price points. Members and selected card holders can purchase tickets for between US$10 and US$15, while general admission is priced at US$20. With strong corporate backing and a high-profile lineup, the 2026 edition is expected to be the largest yet.
As the event continues to grow, it remains a testament to the power of community, fitness, and family. The First Care Musabvunda Half Marathon and Family Fun Day is more than just a race—it’s a celebration of health, togetherness, and the spirit of competition.
