Nicole Kidman’s Mother’s Day Post Sparks Social Media Debate
Nicole Kidman, the acclaimed Australian actress and Oscar winner, recently found herself in the middle of a social media controversy after sharing a heartfelt Mother’s Day message. The 58-year-old star posted an image on Instagram that captured a serene moment with two of her four children, sparking a wave of reactions from fans and critics alike.
In the post, Nicole was seen in the desert with her daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, both of whom she shares with her ex-husband, Keith Urban. The image showed the actress carrying one of her daughters on her back while smiling at the other, all set against a backdrop of striking red rock formations.
The caption read: “My two girls are everything to me,” accompanied by a red heart emoji. While many fans praised the touching tribute, others took issue with the fact that the post did not include her two adopted children, Bella and Connor, whom she shares with her former husband, Tom Cruise.
This omission led to a heated discussion in the comments section, with some accusing Nicole of neglecting her older children. One commenter wrote: “Even if the other two kids chose not to be in my life, I’d still acknowledge them. She can do what she wants, as she chose to. I’d be different but no one knows the actual story.” Another added: “What about the other 2??? C’mon, Nicole… Full stop.”
A third comment stated: “Wow that’s so sad – I know get why she didn’t invite you to her wedding in London. Adopting kids isn’t a fashion move it’s a lifetime commitment – so upsetting.” Others expressed confusion, with one fan asking: “I thought you had 4 kids! This is so weird.” Another wrote: “What about your other 2, just because you don’t have a relationship with them doesn’t mean you disregard their existence.”
Some fans also questioned whether Nicole had a son, with one simply adding: “Don’t you have a son?” Despite these criticisms, Nicole’s supporters came to her defense, arguing that her relationship with Bella and Connor has always been private and complex, particularly due to their connections to Scientology.
Nicole adopted Bella and Connor during her marriage to Tom Cruise, which ended in 2001. Over the years, there has been much speculation about her estrangement from her eldest children, although Bella and Connor have largely stayed out of the public eye.
While Nicole has often spoken warmly about all her children, she has typically kept discussions about Bella and Connor to a minimum. Today, she focuses more on her family life with Keith Urban and their two teenage daughters, who occasionally join her at public events.
