2026 Ford Ranger PHEV Revealed: New Features, Updated Pricing

New 2026 Ford Ranger PHEV Launches in Australia with Major Price Cuts

The 2026 Ford Ranger Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) is set to arrive in Australia later this year, offering a range of updates and significant price reductions. The vehicle will be available through away deals that cut up to $20,000 off its original launch price from day one.

Ford has confirmed the Australian pricing and initial specifications for the 2026 Ranger PHEV ahead of its arrival at local showrooms between July and September. This model will join the updated ‘MY2026.5’ Ranger diesel and Ranger Raptor. The PHEV is now priced from $59,000 away, which is a notable reduction compared to the current $62,000 away or the previous $71,990 before on-road costs.

This new pricing allows the Ranger PHEV to undercut the BYD Shark 6 Premium dual-cab pick-up, which costs around $61,000 away, depending on the state or territory of registration, and excluding special offers.

Revised Line-Up and Styling Changes

The 2026 Ranger PHEV features a revised line-up, including styling changes that reflect the updated design of the diesel versions. Black exterior trim replaces chrome or grey finishes across the range, and the Ford badging has been updated to a flat design.

The new name better reflects the PHEV’s reduced specification compared with its XLT diesel counterpart. For example, the PHEV XL comes with halogen headlights and daytime running lights instead of LEDs. Some features have also been removed from the PHEV XL compared with the outgoing XLT, such as power-folding side mirrors, side steps, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and a perimeter alarm system. These features are now exclusive to the PHEV Sport and PHEV Wildtrak.

However, a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster is now standard across the entire Ranger PHEV line-up, an upgrade from the 8.0-inch digital cluster on the 2025 model.

Key Features and Pricing

The Ranger PHEV Sport is available for $66,000 away, unchanged from a special offer for the current 2025 model. It adds a surround-view camera, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, and automatic high beam. Command Grey, a colour offered for the Ranger Raptor, Ranger Super Duty, and Everest Tremor, is now exclusively available for the Sport within the Ranger PHEV line-up.

The $70,000 away PHEV Wildtrak, down $3,000 from a current away offer for the PHEV Stormtrak limited-edition, now includes orange exterior accents and a new Ignite Orange exterior colour, replacing Cyber Orange. This mirrors its diesel counterpart.

In Europe, the Ranger PHEV is now offered in a flagship Platinum grade, along with new features including trailer theft assist and BlueCruise hands-free highway driving. However, these features are not available in Australia.

Performance and Battery Details

Despite the styling and feature changes, the 2026 Ranger PHEV retains its plug-in hybrid system, combining a 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with a 75kW electric motor. This results in total system outputs of 207kW and 697Nm.

An 11.8kWh lithium-ion battery allows for a claimed 49km NEDC electric-only driving range. This is slightly lower than the BYD Shark 6 (100km with a 29.6kWh battery) and the GWM Cannon Alpha PHEV (115km with a 37.1kWh battery).
