BAFTA Snub: Spencer Ignores Millie After Hugo Taylor Breakup

A Strained Encounter at the BAFTAs

At the recent BAFTAs, a notable moment unfolded when Spencer Matthews, a well-known figure from the reality TV series Made in Chelsea, seemingly ignored his former co-star, Millie Mackintosh. This incident occurred four months after it was revealed that Millie was going through a divorce from Spencer’s close friend, Hugo Taylor.

Spencer, who is a father of three, had previously served as the best man at Millie’s wedding to Hugo in 2018. However, on the day of the event, he was seen with his pregnant wife, Vogue Williams, and briefly left her side to greet BBC journalist Anita Rani, who had interviewed him two years ago for a Christmas Special.

During this time, Spencer walked past Millie, who appeared visibly upset by the snub. The 36-year-old, who had shared the screen with Spencer for two years, turned away from him, indicating her discomfort. Despite growing up in an environment where politeness is expected, Spencer seemed to have overlooked his manners, choosing to ignore the mother-of-two he has known for over a decade.

Millie and Spencer have a history marked by several public disagreements on the E4 series. In one instance in 2012, Millie slapped Spencer for cheating on her friend, Louise Thompson.

A year later, Millie referred to Spencer as a ‘chubby baker boy’ while he wore a chunky knit jumper, and Spencer reportedly told her he didn’t ‘give a s***’ about her during a heated argument at a Chelsea pub.

In the same year, Millie married rapper Professor Green, whose real name is Stephen Manderson, but the couple divorced three years later. She then married her Made in Chelsea boyfriend, Hugo Taylor.

Hugo, now 39, is also Spencer’s best friend, and the two were likely to have spent considerable time together during Millie’s seven-year marriage to Spencer’s onscreen best friend. However, it seems they have returned to their old ways of dismissing each other, as captured in an exclusive video obtained by the Daily Mail.

Other Red Carpet Highlights

On the red carpet, Love Island 2025 winners Cach Mercer and Toni Laites narrowly avoided an awkward encounter, marking their first meeting since their acrimonious split seven months after the ITV show aired. Cach’s PR team reportedly instructed journalists not to mention Toni in his presence, suggesting that his heart has yet to heal.

Loud-mouthed former Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby also made a comment about the BBC not signing her up for its hit show Traitors, stating that bosses have decided against working with reality TV stars.

The Adolescence family, as they now call themselves, were the center of attention on the red carpet, with all other celebrities appearing less prominent compared to the most talked-about cast of the moment.
