Ammonia Power: Pioneering Clean Energy Certification

NH3 Clean Energy Joins AEA Ammonia Certification Pilot

NH3 Clean Energy (ASX: NH3) is set to take part in the pilot phase of the Ammonia Energy Association’s (AEA) ammonia certification system (ACS). This initiative marks a significant step forward for the company as it aims to establish itself as a leader in the global clean ammonia market.

The AEA ammonia certification system is a globally recognised framework designed to support the international trade of low-emissions ammonia. It provides a standardized method for verifying the carbon footprint of ammonia production, ensuring that products meet stringent environmental criteria.

Chairman Charles Whitfield highlighted the importance of this move, stating that participation in the ACS pilot reinforces NH3’s position as a leader in the development of its advanced, export-focused clean ammonia project. He also noted that the company remains committed to delivering independently verified low-carbon ammonia to global markets.

“As international customers increasingly prioritise independently verified low-emissions supply, this initiative enhances the strategic positioning of our WAH2 Project and supports ongoing engagement with offtake partners,” Mr Whitfield said.

“By participating in the pilot phase of this globally important certification framework, NH3 continues to lead the market in transparency, credibility and readiness for international clean ammonia trade.”

Benefits of Pre-Certification

Under the pilot phase of the certification system, NH3 will be able to pre-certify the expected emissions profile of ammonia to be produced from its planned WAH2 project in Western Australia before commercial operations begin. This pre-certification process allows the company to provide potential customers, financiers, and strategic partners with greater confidence in the integrity and transparency of the project’s decarbonisation credentials.

Executive director Trevor Brown expressed his enthusiasm about the company’s involvement in the AEA pilot. He stated that NH3’s participation highlights its proactive approach to transparency and rigorous carbon accounting in the clean ammonia market.

“We’re delighted that NH3 Clean Energy is participating in the AEA ammonia certification system pilot, joining ammonia producers, traders, and consumers from around the world,” he said.

“This highlights their proactive approach to transparency and rigorous carbon accounting in the clean ammonia market. Early engagement with internationally aligned certification systems like ours will play an important role in building market confidence and accelerating global trade in low-emission ammonia.”

Market Performance

NH3 has seen positive movement in its stock price, rising 4.35% to 12.0¢. The company’s market capitalisation stands at $81.98M.
