Elon Musk’s Outrage Over ‘The Boys’ Finale
Elon Musk, the tech billionaire, recently made headlines with a series of online rants about the final episode of ‘The Boys,’ a popular superhero satire. On the social media platform X, he posted more than a dozen times, calling the ending “pathetic” and “fake and gay.” His outburst came after the finale introduced a character that many believe is a clear parody of him.
The character in question is a clueless “world’s richest man” with an unusually large number of children, who is brutally murdered by the superhero Homelander. This portrayal sparked Musk’s anger, leading to a string of posts where he criticized the show’s conclusion.
Despite his intense reactions, Musk insisted he wasn’t actually upset. He wrote, “I’m not upset, just remarking that the ending sounds fake and gay,” on Friday. Even as he spent considerable time attacking the showrunner, Eric Kripke, he tried to sound casual.
Showrunner Celebrates Musk’s Reaction
Eric Kripke, the showrunner, took a different approach. Instead of ignoring Musk’s criticism, he celebrated it. He shared a screenshot of Musk’s reaction and wrote, “OMG this is his review of what [The Boys TV] did to Homelander, I’ll never get a better review ever.”
The reason behind Musk’s sudden interest in the show is quite apparent. The finale, titled ‘Blood and Bone,’ features a character named Günter Van Ellis, referred to as the “world’s richest man” and an “amateur astronaut” with 17 children. Musk has 14 kids, and the character wears a black baseball cap that says “We believe in Homelander,” which closely resembles Musk’s dark “Make America Great Again” cap.
The Parody and Its Impact
In the scene, Günter tries to warn Homelander about falling “white fertility rates.” Homelander pretends to agree, grabs the billionaire, flies him into space, and comes back alone. “He’s an astronaut, I took him to space,” Homelander jokes.
Musk didn’t directly mention the parody character in his rants, but the timing makes it clear that the show got under his skin. Instead of talking about Günter, Musk attacked Kripke personally. He suggested in one post that Kripke “probably got flack from his wife’s bf for Homelander being used in based memes and had to write that ending as a groveling apology.”
Musk Claims He Didn’t Watch the Show
Musk tried to act like he hadn’t even watched the show. After Kripke made fun of him for the reviews, Musk replied, “I didn’t watch the show tbh.” People immediately pointed out the problem: If Musk didn’t watch the show, how did he know the ending was “fake and gay” or that Homelander had been written into a “groveling apology” story?
Kripke kept having fun with the whole thing. He posted, “HAHAHAHAH. He’s posting. MULTIPLE TIMES. Also, I have notes on his joke writing.”

The Reason Behind the Parody
When asked why they put the character in the show, Kripke said they needed “one last satirical target before the end of the show.” He also said the scene was meant to show how Homelander sees even the most powerful billionaires as just disposable bugs to a real authoritarian.
As of Friday, Musk’s posts were still up on X. So he basically wrote a bunch of bad reviews for a show he says he never watched, and in doing so proved exactly the point the show was trying to make about fragile tech egos.

The Final Thoughts
Musk’s public outburst highlights the intersection of pop culture and real-world figures. His reaction to the show’s portrayal of him underscores the power of satire and the sensitivity of high-profile individuals to such portrayals.
