Jason’s Beard Dilemma: Farmer Wants a Wife Bombshell

Farmer Jason’s Impressive Beard: A Deal-Breaker for Love?

For many, a rugged beard is a sign of a man’s character, and for Queensland farmer Jason, it’s become an iconic part of his identity. The 37-year-old dairy farmer, a dad of two, recently revealed that his signature facial hair was a point of discussion before he even stepped onto the set of Farmer Wants A Wife.

“They actually asked me would I shave it off for the show, and I told them, ‘A big no’,” Jason admitted. Producers, it seems, were keen to see what lay beneath the impressive growth, believing it might be a key factor in attracting potential partners. “They reckon women want to see what’s under the beard,” he chuckled.

While the beard was non-negotiable, Jason did have to make a concession regarding his hairstyle. “I did have a bit of a mullet happening, but they made me cut it off,” he explained. “They compromised. They said, ‘We’ll let you keep the beard, but the mullet’s got to go.’ It’s grown back a bit now.”

Jason’s beard isn’t a recent development. He’s sported the facial hair for over 12 years. “I had a couple of shaves when I was 18,” he recalled. “I didn’t like shaving, so I just grew stubble and had stubble for a long time, and I thought, ‘Oh, I’m just going to grow the beard and see what it looks like.’”

The Challenges of Farm Love

Jason’s journey to find love on Farmer Wants A Wife has been a long time coming. He’s been keen to join the show for a few years, having previously tried his luck with dating apps. However, he’s found it challenging to connect with women willing to relocate to his farm in Coolabunia, a rural locality near Kingaroy.

“I ask questions early on, like, ‘If we were to hit it off, would you be able to move in the future?’” he stated. Jason understands that building a life together takes time, and he doesn’t expect an immediate move. “I don’t expect someone to move in two months but maybe after a year.”

A particular hurdle he’s encountered is dating single mothers. “It’s been tough dating single mums because they generally have custody orders in place and they can’t move for custody reasons,” he explained, highlighting the complex realities of blended families and relocation.

A Lady Short for the Speed Dates

The initial stages of Farmer Wants A Wife involve speed dates, allowing the farmers to meet a selection of potential partners. For Jason, this meant meeting seven ladies, one less than the other farmers who had eight. This discrepancy naturally led to questions about the missing eighth contestant.

“From what I heard, she was unwell the night before or something, so I think she made it down there and then something happened,” Jason shared, offering a brief explanation for the absence of his expected eighth date.

Despite the minor hiccup, the hope remains that Jason will find a genuine connection on the show. The ideal partner for this Queensland farmer would undoubtedly appreciate him for who he is – beard and all.

Farmer Wants A Wife airs at 7pm on Sundays and 7:30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays on Channel Seven and is also available on 7plus.
