Tom Hanks joined his fellow ‘Toy Story 5‘ cast members in Los Angeles on Tuesday for the world premiere of Pixar’s latest sequel. As the actor celebrated his return as Sheriff Woody, discussions about the film soon turned to another of the night’s major talking points: Taylor Swift.
With Swift’s name coming up throughout the evening, it was only a matter of time before the conversation moved beyond ‘Toy Story 5‘. During a red carpet interview, Hanks was asked whether he had any advice for Swift and her fiancé, Travis Kelce, ahead of their wedding day, and the Oscar winner didn’t hesitate to answer.

Hanks Was Kept In The Dark About Taylor Swift’s Big Reveal in ‘Toy Story 5’

The conversation at the premiere also touched on Swift’s contribution to ‘Toy Story 5‘. The singer wrote and performed an original song called “I Knew It, I Knew You,” which plays during the film’s closing credits.

According to Hanks, Pixar kept Swift’s involvement so closely guarded that even the cast did not know about it until the announcement went public.
“We were told the day it came out,” Hanks said. “They said, ‘Tonight at nine o’clock, Taylor Swift is going to be dropping the song that ends our movie.’ And I said, ‘Well, I’ve seen the movie, and there was no Taylor Swift [song].’ ‘We know.’” The revelation surprised Hanks, who had already watched the movie without hearing the track.
Looking back on the secrecy, Hanks joked that it was “diabolical” to keep the information from him. “They don’t trust us, and there’s a brain trust that goes along that I am not a part of. So I just do what I’m told.”
Swift later gave fans another surprise during the premiere by taking the stage to perform the track live. She also delivered an emotional rendition of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” alongside its original singer-songwriter, Randy Newman.
