A New Wave of Drama on I’m A Celebrity
Fans of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! have been quick to defend Gemma Collins after a heated exchange with fellow campmate Sinitta. The South Africa spin-off has already seen some intense moments, and the latest clash between the two stars has sparked widespread discussion.
Gemma joined the main camp on Thursday night, where she faced a surprising critique from 80s pop icon Sinitta, 62, regarding her casting as Mama Morton in the West End production Chicago. Sinitta, who has also played the role, expressed her disbelief that Gemma was chosen for the part, calling it a “joke.”
Gemma responded firmly, explaining that she had auditioned for the role and secured it through proper channels. “I auditioned for it and got it fair and square. Did all the training, everything. Had the voice coach,” she said, defending her qualifications.
The reality star later revealed that she had to withdraw from the role due to an injury, which led to Brenda Edwards stepping in. “I had a terrible injury, it was something to do with the insurance,” she explained.
Sinitta, however, was not convinced. “I’m sorry, but I’m going to admit it, that when I heard you were doing it I thought it was a joke announcement,” she said. When Gemma asked why, Sinitta added, “I think you’d just presented something at an awards and fallen off the stage.” She continued, “I thought you were that girl, like, you don’t really do anything, but you make a great entrance, and you make everybody laugh. But I didn’t know you could actually sing, dance and all of that. All that jazz.”

Scarlett Moffatt and Seann Walsh were present during the conversation, visibly shocked by the exchange. Scarlett even whispered, “What is happening?” as the tension escalated.
In a defiant tone, Gemma concluded, “I don’t think you’d get casted as Mama Morton in Chicago, if you didn’t pass the audition.”

Fans have been left appalled by Sinitta’s comments, with many expressing their support for Gemma. Online reactions have been overwhelmingly in her favor:
- “Sinitta is just digging herself further into this hole with what she’s said to Gemma Collins,” wrote Lord Ben on X.
- “Sinitta is almost coming across like Gemma didn’t deserve to be cast the same part as her? Cause she’s not as famous as her… but yet she’s sharing the same camp with her,” shared Jessica.
- “I wish Gemma had got up & performed a bit of Mama Morton in front of Sinitta,” Emma added.
- “I’ve gone right off Sinitta. How bloody rude was that?” Karen declared.
- “I’m not Gemma’s biggest fan but Sinitta basically calling her a clown was not on. Someone who can’t sing or has no talent doesn’t get casted in Chicago,” Aaron posted.
- “David Haye also left a bad taste in the audience’s mouth with his ‘attitude’ problem.”

Sinitta is not the only one to face criticism. David Haye also drew backlash for his dismissive remarks about Beverly Collard. When Scarlett suggested bringing Beverly into their circle, Haye responded with a biting comment: “What’s she adding? What value is she adding?” His words left fans shocked and are already prompting calls for him to be the first man evicted.
As the competition continues, the drama shows no signs of slowing down. I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! returns tonight at 8pm on ITV1.
