Exciting New Cast Members Join the Third Season of Wednesday
Netflix’s hit series Wednesday is set to undergo a major transformation as it prepares for its third season. The supernatural mystery comedy has already captured the hearts of viewers, and now, with the addition of three new stars, fans are eagerly anticipating what’s next.
The latest cast additions include Lena Headey, James Lance, and Andrew McCarthy. Lena Headey, best known for her role as Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones, brings her extensive acting experience to the show. James Lance, who gained fame through Ted Lasso, and Andrew McCarthy, known for his role in Pretty in Pink, will also join the cast. Filming for the third season is currently underway in Dublin, Ireland, with these new stars stepping onto the set.
The first season of Wednesday holds the record for being Netflix’s most-watched English-language show of all time. While there is no official release date yet, fans can expect another split season, similar to the second season, which was released in two parts. However, the exact roles of Lena, James, and Andrew have not been revealed. They will be joining an already impressive cast that includes Eva Green from Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Winona Ryder from Stranger Things, Noah Taylor from Game of Thrones, Oscar Morgan from Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Kennedy Moyer from Task, and Chris Sarandon from Dog Day Afternoon.
The main Addams family will return, with Jenna Ortega reprising her role as Wednesday, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, and Luis Guzmán as Gomez. Other returning characters include Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, Bianca Barclay as Joy Sunday, Billie Piper as Isodora Capri, and Joanna Lumley as Hester Frump.
While details about the third season are still limited, it will follow the dramatic ending of the previous season, where Wednesday’s best friend Enid goes missing, and a premonition suggests that Wednesday may die. Winona Ryder, who plays Joyce Byers in Stranger Things, was recently announced as a new addition to the cast. She will reunite with director Tim Burton and co-star Jenna Ortega, following her role in the Beetlejuice sequel.
Tim Burton, the legendary director, expressed his excitement about Winona’s return, stating, “I am so happy that Winona has joined us, she fits right into this world. And she’s a dear friend. I always feel lucky to work with her.”

Winona Ryder recently wrapped up her role in Stranger Things, where she played Joyce Byers for five seasons. In November 2025, she made a rare public appearance with her boyfriend of 14 years, Scott Mackinlay Hahn, at the season five premiere in Hollywood. The couple, who have kept their relationship mostly out of the spotlight, were last seen together at the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice screening in London.
Ryder and Hahn were seen in all-black ensembles during the star-studded event. Meanwhile, an extra on the show shared insights into Jenna Ortega’s off-camera personality. Iustin Costinesti, who played a werewolf in the first season, described Jenna as shy and often in character but kind to everyone on set. He said, “She was very shy, she was always with headphones and I think she was always in character. She was lovely though, she was kind to all of us and she was saying hello to all of us.”
