Peace restored in Ibadan as Makinde and Olubadan end feud

Ibadan’s Leadership Dispute Resolved Through Traditional Means

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has announced that the recent disagreement between Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has been resolved peacefully. The council emphasized that the issue was addressed internally through traditional methods, ensuring that it did not escalate into a broader crisis.

In a statement released on Sunday, the CCII highlighted that external influences attempting to exacerbate the situation were ultimately unsuccessful. The statement, signed by Publicity Secretary Kola Olomide, quoted President-General Ajeniyi Ajewole, who explained that the matter was handled swiftly by Ibadan’s elders and leaders without the need for outside intervention.

Ajewole clarified that the disagreement was resolved through dialogue and traditional mechanisms, which are deeply rooted in Ibadan’s cultural practices. He dismissed any rumors suggesting that either the governor or the Olubadan faced any form of removal from their positions. According to him, the relationship between the two leaders remains strong and built on mutual respect, akin to that of a father and son.

He also urged individuals who attempted to stir up unrest to cease their actions, stating that Ibadan is capable of managing its own affairs. Ajewole encouraged residents of Ibadan and Oyo State to remain calm and continue supporting peace and development in the region.

Recognition of Leadership and Contributions

Ajewole praised Governor Makinde for his efforts in advancing the state. These include significant investments in infrastructure, timely payment of salaries and pensions, job creation, and improved security measures. He also commended the Olubadan for his leadership in driving development in Ibadan, particularly through committees focused on economic growth and land use management.
