Cadillac Lyriq’s Price Reduction Makes It More Accessible
Cadillac has made the price reduction of its Lyriq mid-size electric SUV permanent in Australia. Originally introduced with a higher price, the model now starts at $90,000 before on-road costs or $95,000 drive-away, depending on whether you choose the Luxury or Sport trim. This represents a significant drop of $32,000 from the original launch price, making it more competitive in the luxury electric vehicle market.
The new pricing also places the Lyriq below the Luxury Car Tax (LCT) threshold for fuel-efficient vehicles. This means that if purchased through a novated lease, the vehicle is exempt from Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT). This change could make the Lyriq an attractive option for businesses and employees looking to reduce their tax liabilities while investing in a premium electric vehicle.
A Competitive Position in the Market
The Lyriq now sits between two other Cadillac models: the smaller Optiq, priced from $80,000 before on-road costs, and the larger Vistiq, which starts at $116,000 before on-road costs. This positioning allows Cadillac to offer a range of options for customers seeking different sizes and features within the electric vehicle segment.
Despite the price cut, there have been no changes to the Lyriq’s powertrain or standard equipment. The vehicle continues to feature a dual-electric motor setup that delivers a total system output of 388kW. Power is supplied by a 102kWh lithium-ion battery, which provides a claimed range of up to 530km based on WLTP testing.
Standard Features and Interior Comfort
The Lyriq comes with a comprehensive list of standard features designed to enhance both comfort and convenience. These include:
- 21-inch alloy wheels
- LED lighting
- A panoramic glass sunroof
- A power tailgate
- A 33-inch digital screen setup
- A 19-speaker AKG sound system
- Interior ambient lighting
- Leather upholstery with heated and ventilated front seats featuring a massage function
- Heated and ventilated outboard rear seats
These features ensure that the Lyriq offers a luxurious and tech-savvy driving experience, making it a strong contender in the Australian EV market.

Future Plans for the Lyriq-V
Cadillac has previously announced that the high-performance Lyriq-V will be available in Australia in 2026. However, it remains unclear whether this timeline is still valid. Cadillac Australia has been contacted for further information, and updates will be provided once a response is received.
As a brand under General Motors (GM), Cadillac entered the Australian market last year as an all-electric brand. The Lyriq was its first offering, followed by the larger Vistiq and smaller Optiq models. This strategy aims to establish Cadillac as a key player in the growing EV market.
Production and Distribution in Australia
All Cadillac vehicles sold in Australia are produced in right-hand drive at the factory. This is different from some other GM models that are converted from left-hand to right-hand drive locally by Walkinshaw. This approach ensures that Cadillac vehicles meet local standards and requirements.
Despite being in Australia for over 12 months, Cadillac has not officially released its sales figures. The brand currently operates an ‘Experience Centre’ in Sydney and a test drive location in Melbourne. It plans to open a new dealer in Brisbane during the first half of 2026, as well as one in Melbourne, expanding its presence across the country.
