A devastating incident has occurred at one of Ford’s manufacturing facilities, resulting in the tragic death of a veteran worker. Gregory Knopf, a 64-year-old employee at the Sharonville Transmission Plant in Ohio, was fatally injured on Monday after becoming trapped in a press machine.
The accident unfolded during routine maintenance work on the machinery. According to a spokesperson for the Sharonville Police Department, the press machine “inadvertently turned on” while Mr. Knopf was working on it. Emergency services were alerted to the scene at approximately 9:45 am. Despite the efforts of first responders and medics who immediately began life-saving procedures after freeing him from the machine, Mr. Knopf was transported to Bethesda North Hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries.
Police have classified the incident as an “industrial accident” and confirmed that there were multiple witnesses present at the time of the event. “Safety is our highest priority and we are investigating the incident,” Ms. Enoch stated, also extending thanks to the community’s first responders.
The United Auto Workers (UAW) union also addressed the fatality.
