Humanoid Robots Compete at Hong Kong AI Robotics Fair

Hong Kong played host to a major event showcasing the latest advancements in artificial intelligence and robotics, with humanoid robots demonstrating their skills in boxing and playing music. This exhibition, part of InnoEX 2026 and the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition), took place from 13 to 16 April 2026 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event highlighted the growing role of robots in various aspects of daily life and industry.

The fair reflected a broader trend in the development of robotic technology, where machines are increasingly being integrated into service and public functions. One of the standout participants was Unitree, which introduced four new models equipped with advanced capabilities. These robots can assist with navigation, provide support during emergencies, and even operate fire hoses in dangerous environments. Their versatility makes them suitable for a wide range of applications, from disaster response to everyday tasks.

In addition to their practical uses, the robots on display also demonstrated their creative side. They performed martial arts routines and mimicked musical instruments, showcasing their adaptability across different sectors. Developers involved in the event explained that these systems are designed not only for security and rescue operations but also for customer service and entertainment purposes. This highlights the expanding role of robotics beyond traditional industrial settings.

Organisers of the fair noted that the event brought together companies and researchers from across Asia, indicating strong investment in the robotics sector. Major firms such as AgiBot, EngineAI, UBTECH, and Unitree were among the exhibitors, alongside start-ups and international participants. This diverse mix of attendees underscored Hong Kong’s position as a key regional hub for innovation and technological development.

China has placed a strong emphasis on the development of intelligent robotics in recent years. The country aims to integrate these machines into daily life, from public services to industrial safety operations. This focus is part of a larger strategy to enhance efficiency, improve safety, and drive economic growth through technological advancement. As a result, China has become a major player in the global robotics market, with significant investments in research and development.

The presence of Chinese companies at the Hong Kong fair further illustrates the country’s commitment to this field. By participating in international events, these firms gain exposure to global trends and technologies, while also promoting their own innovations. This exchange of ideas and expertise helps to accelerate the development of robotic systems that can be used in a variety of industries and public services.

As the demand for intelligent machines continues to grow, events like the Hong Kong Electronics Fair serve as important platforms for showcasing the latest breakthroughs. They provide an opportunity for businesses, researchers, and policymakers to come together and explore the future of robotics. With ongoing advancements in AI and automation, the role of robots in society is set to expand even further in the coming years.
