Toyota Yaris Cross Unveiled: Smarter Features and Hybrid Power

A Fresh Look for the Toyota Yaris Cross

Toyota has introduced a new update to its popular compact SUV, the Yaris Cross. This model has already gained a strong following in Europe and now features a cleaner design, enhanced features, and improved comfort. The updates aim to make the car more stylish while maintaining its practicality and efficiency.

The Yaris Cross has been available since 2021 and quickly became Toyota’s top-selling vehicle in Europe. In 2025 alone, it sold approximately 200,000 units, highlighting its appeal among buyers seeking a balance between size, efficiency, and usability.

New Design

The most significant change in the updated Yaris Cross is at the front. Toyota has redesigned the grille with a bold honeycomb pattern, giving the SUV a more modern appearance. The new LED headlamps are sharper and include integrated daytime running lights.

The SUV retains its strong stance with black lower body cladding and wide wheel arches. Higher variants now come with larger alloy wheels, up to 18 inches, enhancing both aesthetics and road presence. Toyota has also introduced new color options such as Precious Bronze and Celestite Grey, offering buyers more choices.

Interior Enhancements

Inside the cabin, Toyota has focused on improving quality and comfort. The new platinum-coloured trims on the doors and dashboard provide a more premium feel. Seats have also been upgraded, with even mid-level variants featuring better-shaped seats that offer more support.

Higher variants include partial leather upholstery made from eco-friendly materials, which helps reduce emissions during production. Additional features like ambient lighting, wireless charging, and a powered tailgate (in top variants) make daily use more convenient.

GR SPORT Version

For those looking for a sportier look, Toyota offers the GR SPORT variant. This version features a more aggressive front bumper, unique alloy wheels, and special interior styling. It also includes tuned suspension for better handling. Inside, you’ll find sporty seats with red stitching and GR branding, giving it a performance-inspired feel.

Hybrid Power with Improved Efficiency

The Yaris Cross continues to focus on hybrid technology. The main option is the Hybrid 130 system, which delivers 130 hp and 185 Nm of torque. This setup provides smooth performance and good fuel efficiency. The SUV can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in about 10.7 seconds, with fuel consumption ranging between 4.4-5.1 litres per 100 km. A Hybrid 115 option is also available in lower variants. Buyers can choose between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive based on their needs.

Practical Build and Comfort

Designed for city use, the Yaris Cross can also handle longer drives. It offers flexible seating with a 40:20:40 split, allowing for more luggage space when needed. Toyota has also improved noise insulation, making the cabin quieter than before. The platform ensures stable handling and a comfortable ride.

Safety and Technology

Safety remains a key focus. The SUV comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense features, including driver assistance systems for easier and safer driving. Higher variants also include features like blind spot monitoring and parking support systems. The infotainment system includes cloud-based navigation and wireless smartphone connectivity.

The updated Toyota Yaris Cross may not be a complete redesign, but it represents a smart improvement. It looks better, feels more premium, and continues to deliver strong fuel efficiency.
