In a significant diplomatic move, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir in Islamabad on Saturday. This meeting took place amid renewed efforts to address the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The state broadcaster IRIB reported the encounter, highlighting its importance in regional diplomacy.
Following his meeting with Munir, Araghchi also engaged in discussions with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. A statement from Araghchi’s office confirmed this interaction, emphasizing the focus on regional developments and peace initiatives.
Araghchi arrived in Islamabad late on Friday night, marking the beginning of a series of high-level talks. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei confirmed that no meeting with the US side has been planned so far.
