A Unique Relationship That Has Withstood the Test of Time
Hilaria Baldwin, a 42-year-old yoga instructor and mother of seven, has opened up about her marriage to Alec Baldwin, a 68-year-old Hollywood actor. Their relationship, which began when Hilaria was 27 and Alec was significantly older, has often been met with skepticism from others. In fact, some people even compared their union to a “bad SNL sketch.” However, Hilaria insists that their differences have not only helped them grow but also strengthened their bond.
“Take a 27-year-old yoga instructor married to a rich and famous older man – it sounds ridiculous. It sounds like a bad SNL sketch,” Hilaria told the Daily Mail. “It worked out luckily, but we poke fun at each other in our family all the time. I think people expect that Alec wanted somebody he could boss around, and we’re on the same level together.”
The Dancing With The Stars alum spoke to the Daily Mail at an event celebrating her Spotlight magazine cover at NYC’s One Art Space gallery. During the interview, she shared insights into how she and Alec manage to keep their marriage strong despite the chaos of raising seven children.
Prioritizing Quality Time Together
One of the key factors in maintaining their relationship is their commitment to regular date nights. “We take a lot of time for date nights,” Hilaria explained. “We’ve been traveling a lot for work recently, but we try to have a lot of date nights.”
According to Hilaria, these evenings are surprisingly low-key. “That usually involves dinner. He loves a good dinner; we either go out or I cook, and we usually end up chatting and catching each other up on our seven kids and our projects,” she said. “We just let each other be, and I think that’s one of the reasons our relationship has gone on as long as it has, because we are polar opposites and so different.”

Navigating Challenges and Embracing Differences
The couple has faced their share of challenges throughout their marriage, including the impact of their significant age gap. Hilaria recently revealed that they even sought therapy to help navigate this aspect of their relationship. “There’s been so much chaos in our lives, so much of it wonderful, some horrible things, but we’ve managed to figure it out,” she said.
Alec, who has always been open about his admiration for Hilaria, described her as “a very special person.” “She’s a very hard worker, and I really admired that. She’s beautiful beyond measure, inside and out,” he added.

A Family-Focused Life
Despite his decades-long career in Hollywood, Alec now finds more joy in spending time with his family than chasing work projects. “For me, I don’t want to leave my home anymore. I want to stay home and do nothing and be with the kids,” he confessed. “I love my kids, I love my family. I love to go to work. But I’m really happy when I’m at home with my family.”
The couple are proud parents to Carmen, 12, Rafael, 10, Leonardo, 9, and Romeo, 8, Eduardo, 5, and Maria Lucia, 5, Ilaria, 3. Alec is also the father to Ireland, 30, whom he shares with ex-wife Kim Basinger. The pair were married from 1993 to 2002.

Expanding Their Family and Supporting Their Children’s Dreams
In the interview, Hilaria also shared that Alec would be open to welcoming more children into their already bustling household. “Alec would have more children,” she laughed, before joking about their youngest daughter, Ilaria Catalina Irena Baldwin. “My youngest is so naughty – I named her after me, and I’m getting all the karma that comes with it.”
Hilaria also expressed her full support for her children if they ever decided to follow in their parents’ footsteps in showbusiness. “I would definitely support my kids to have a future in showbusiness,” she said. “They don’t know anything different and they are curious about it. As long as they’re happy, I don’t care.”
A Hub for Art and Culture
The event where Hilaria celebrated her Spotlight magazine cover took place at One Art Space, a venue known for hosting exhibitions and high-profile events attended by Manhattan’s elite. Last month, the gallery hosted the star-studded “Chuck Connelly: Tribeca’s Midnight Parade – When Art Runs Wild” event honoring the late artist. The exhibition was co-curated by Adrienne Connelly and MaryAnn Giella McCulloh.
