Frankie Valli, Rod Stewart forced to cancel concerts amid health battles

Health Issues Force Iconic Singers to Cancel Tour Dates

Two of the most iconic voices in music history have had to cancel their upcoming tour dates due to health concerns. The news has come as a shock to fans, with one of the legends deciding to step away from live performances entirely.

Frankie Valli, the 92-year-old lead singer of The Four Seasons, has officially scrapped the remainder of his tour. This decision comes after the legendary artist turned 92 in May and made the difficult choice to focus on his well-being. In a statement, Valli expressed his disappointment at not being able to perform for his fans but emphasized the importance of his health. He said:

“I’m so sorry to disappoint the folks who have purchased tickets to my shows, but I have decided to take the rest of the year off from touring to focus on my health. I’m looking forward to getting healthy and seeing you all again soon. Thank you for all your good wishes.”

Meanwhile, rock legend Rod Stewart, who is 81 years old, also had to cancel his weekend concert just two hours before it was scheduled to begin. This decision came after strict medical advice from his doctors. Stewart released a statement expressing his apologies to his fans and explaining that he is currently on vocal rest following a sinus infection. He added:

“My apologies to my family of fans. I am on vocal rest as I recover from a sinus infection. I look forward to seeing you at a future show at Caesars Palace or on tour this summer.”

The Last Encores Tour

Valli’s recent tour, known as “The Last Encores Tour,” has been a significant part of his career. Since 2023, he has been performing this farewell run with The Four Seasons. The tour’s immense popularity led to an extension through 2026, with a series of dates planned through September and November.

According to his representative, Victoria Varela, the decision to cancel the remaining shows was made to avoid putting fans in a state of uncertainty. She explained:

“Promoters want to prolong things and not give people their money back, but he needs to not keep rescheduling these shows. He realised he needed to take a break and get his health in order, and that is the true issue – he wants to get better without prolonging, through the rescheduling process, the pain of people who’ve bought these tickets.”

A Deep Commitment to Music

Despite his age, Valli has always maintained a strong connection to his music. Recently, he spoke about his decision to continue touring despite his advanced age. In an interview with Tucson, Arizona’s 94.9 MIX FM, he shared his thoughts:

“Be loyal to what you’re doing and love what you’re doing. If you’re doing it out of fame or with the hope of becoming famous, it’s really the wrong approach. You should be doing it out of the fact that you love and it and it’s the most important thing in your life. If I had not become successful I’d probably still be working in some little bar. I love music that much.”

Rod Stewart’s Decision

Rod Stewart, who was set to perform at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on May 29 and 30, had to cancel the event before doors even opened. A representative for Stewart told the Las Vegas Review:

“Following his doctor’s advice, Rod Stewart has regretfully cancelled his performances at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on May 29 and 30, but is scheduled to return with shows beginning June 2.”

Although Stewart has no plans to retire from music, he confirmed in 2024 that he would no longer be embarking on large-scale tours like he used to. In a social media post, he stated:

“This will be the end of large-scale world tours for me, but I have no desire to retire. I love what I do, and I do what I love. I’m fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 meters in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.”
