Casey Donovan Shares Update on IVF Journey
Casey Donovan has shared a heartfelt update about her and fiancée Renee Sharples’ journey through in vitro fertilization (IVF). The Australian Idol winner recently posted on Instagram, captioning the photo “Life Lately…The Two Week Wait.” This message marks a significant moment in their process, as they are currently in the two-week wait period following their first embryo transfer.
In her post, Casey reflected on a week filled with joy and gratitude. She expressed appreciation for those who have brought light and love into their lives. Her message concluded with a phrase that resonates deeply within the IVF community: “Now we wait… What will be, will be.” This sentiment captures the emotional rollercoaster many couples experience during this time.
This update comes after Casey previously announced the completion of their first embryo transfer. She shared the news in a heartfelt Instagram reel in April, describing the experience with warmth and sincerity. “Today Renee and I did our first embryo transfer,” she said. “I got the 6am flight back from Sydney to Melbourne and after a massive weekend of amazing shows in NSW it was great to be home into the loving arms of my love and put my legs up… Literally.”
Casey also took the opportunity to thank the clinic and medical staff who have supported them throughout their journey. She closed her caption with a message of solidarity and hope, sending “all of the love, light and baby dust to all who are on an IVF journey.”
A Long Road to Motherhood
For Casey, the path to motherhood has been a long and personal journey. It is closely tied to her health and well-being. The singer has openly discussed the physical challenges she faced during her first round of egg retrieval, which highlighted the importance of maintaining her physical health throughout the process.
“After my first IVF egg retrieval… I managed to put on about nine kilos in the space of a week, which is quite full-on, because the fluid just started building [up],” she shared on The Check Up With Woman’s Day podcast. “It was quite daunting going, ‘Why is the scale doing that?’”
This experience made Casey reflect on how her body’s condition could affect her fertility treatment. “I wondered what would happen if I was at my heaviest and trying to do IVF – what would that do to my body?” she said. “So, my goal of getting my weight and health under control has been so that I can start a family and help myself along that journey.”

A Future Filled with Hope
Having a baby remains one of the couple’s top priorities for 2026. Whether through biological means or adoption, Casey has expressed openness to any path that brings their dream of parenthood to life. “Whether that’s through my biology or we end up adopting,” she told Woman’s Day in January. “Hopefully carrying a child – that would be a beautiful thing.”
Despite the emotional challenges of fertility treatments, Casey continues to embrace life with warmth and positivity. She is actively touring, creating music, and enjoying moments with the woman she loves. “I’m doing music, the one thing I love,” she says, “and I get to spend quality time with my beautiful fiancée – and maybe plan a wedding for 2030 when I get a hot minute to slow down!”
