Nicole Da Silva’s New Chapter on Home and Away
Nicole Da Silva, known for her starring roles in Wentworth and Doctor Doctor, is set to make a return to the Australian television scene. This time, she’s heading to Summer Bay as Dr Amelia Carlisle in Home and Away. Her journey with the show began back in 2006 when she filmed an episode, but now she’s stepping into a more prominent role.
In her new position, Dr Amelia Carlisle will be thrust into a life-or-death situation. Nicole has shared details about the storyline, revealing that Amelia arrives in Summer Bay during a medical emergency. A beloved local is caught up in a shooting, and Amelia goes above and beyond to save the victim’s life. The dramatic arrival sets the stage for what promises to be a compelling storyline.
Nicole also hinted at a rocky romance with Jeremy Lindsay Taylor’s character, Sergeant David Langham. However, this relationship will not be without its challenges. As she explained, “It comes laden with challenges, so Amelia has to learn to assuage her impulse to quit and leave town.”
A Full-Circle Moment
For many fans, Nicole Da Silva will always be remembered for her iconic role as Franky Doyle in Wentworth. The spin-off series Wentworth: The Next Chapter was announced by Binge in February, sparking speculation about who would return. Franky was a fan favorite, having ended the series exonerated and working as a paralegal while in a happy relationship with Dr Bridget Westfall.
Nicole expressed her interest in reprising the role if asked. “I would definitely bring back Franky in a potential reboot,” she said. “Franky was such a dynamic and complex character, so the dichotomy between ex-criminal and lawyer would be fun to explore.”
While the possibility of a Wentworth reboot remains uncertain, Nicole’s latest role sees her come full circle. Having filmed an episode of Home and Away in 2006, she now joins the cast as Dr Amelia Carlisle. She recalled her initial experience, saying, “I remember it being a quick shoot, and a fun and easy learning opportunity when I was still pretty fresh out of drama school.”

A Nostalgic Connection
Growing up, Home and Away was a “dinnertime staple” in Nicole’s house. She shared fond memories of watching the show as a child, recalling the ’90s era. “I remember Shane [Dieter Brummer], Angel [Melissa George] and that iconic moment where Pippa was suddenly played by a different actor [Vanessa Downing then Debra Lawrance]!” she said.
Nicole also highlighted her admiration for Laura Vazquez, who played Sarah Thompson. “We’re both from South American families and seeing her on screen gave me a real sense of pride for my own culture. Now Laura runs the hair and makeup department and we’re working together daily which is a wonderful full-circle moment.”

A Perfect Timing
Nicole found the timing of this role to be ideal. “Living and working full-time in Sydney while my daughter is still at school is a privilege I couldn’t pass up,” she explained. “Amelia struck me as an interesting and complicated woman.”
She described Amelia as someone who comes from a challenging childhood and is used to moving around a lot. “When circumstances change and she decides to stay in the Bay, it poses a real challenge for her. I liked that, despite her past, she pursues her future wholeheartedly.”

A New Challenge
Nicole’s portrayal of Dr Amelia Carlisle brings a new level of complexity to her career. She emphasized the importance of the role, stating, “She comes from a challenging childhood and is used to moving around a lot, so when circumstances change and she decides to stay in the Bay, it poses a real challenge for her.”
Her ability to take on such a demanding role reflects her growth as an actress. With her previous experiences in Wentworth and Doctor Doctor, Nicole continues to showcase her versatility and dedication to her craft.
