Luxury High-Rise Becomes Scene of Tragic Fall: Family of Three Found Dead in South London
A family of three, comprising a man, woman, and child, tragically lost their lives after falling approximately 400 feet from the 36th floor of a prominent tower block in Elephant and Castle, South London. The devastating incident occurred last Wednesday, with the family being discovered in the courtyard below.
The affluent family resided in Highpoint tower, a modern residential building that offers 458 high-end apartments. This development primarily caters to a demographic of wealthy international students, particularly from East Asia, and affluent young professionals. The building itself has a history, having previously housed over 500 asylum seekers who reportedly described it as a “hostel from hell.”
However, following a significant redevelopment by Canadian property group Realstar Living and a rebranding to UNCLE Elephant and Castle, the tower now presents a picture of modern luxury and extensive amenities.
A Glimpse Inside UNCLE Elephant and Castle
The building is now lauded as one of London’s tallest residential structures, boasting panoramic views that are said to rival those from the iconic Shard. Residents enjoy breathtaking vistas of landmarks such as the London Eye, Wembley Stadium, and the River Thames from their private balconies.
The amenities available to residents are designed for comfort and convenience, including:

Furthermore, unsettling reports have emerged from individuals living in the tower. Several residents claim to have heard “shouts and screams” emanating from the family’s apartment in the weeks leading up to the tragic fall.
One woman residing in the building stated, “I heard shouting and screaming for the past two weeks. It has stopped since Wednesday.” She recounted an interaction with the police: “Police knocked on the door and asked if I had heard shouting and screaming. I told them yes and I assumed it was a domestic.”
These accounts have also fuelled scepticism among some residents regarding the nature of the fall. One individual expressed doubt, stating, “It’s impossible even for a tall adult to fall through the glass barriers here. The barriers are higher than chest height.”
Official Response and Support for Residents
Following the incident, residents received an email from building management the day after the tragedy. The communication informed them of an increased police presence and temporary road closures in the vicinity.
The email read: “Dear Residents, you may have seen some news about the tragic incident at UNCLE Elephant and Castle Wednesday morning. The incident involved the loss of life, our thoughts are with the family, friends, and all those impacted by this tragic event. We recognise that incidents of this nature can cause concern and distress within the community, and our thoughts are with everyone who may have been affected.”
It further detailed the ongoing investigation: “Specialist and dedicated teams from the Metropolitan Police Service are currently investigating the incident and will remain in the area over the coming days while enquiries continue. You may notice an increased police presence, temporary road closures, or restricted access in some locations as this important work is carried out.”

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed that an investigation into the deaths is underway. Southwark Coroners Court has been informed of the matter and is cooperating with the Metropolitan Police’s ongoing investigation, stating that no further comment would be made at this stage.
