Inside Sofia Levin’s Growing Romance on MasterChef

A Journey of Passion and Purpose

After 15 years of encouraging her followers to #EatCuriously, journalist Sofia Levin lifted her passion for food from text to television. In 2024, the food journalist joined the judging panel of MasterChef Australia and has inspired contestants and fans alike with her skills and advice.

Sofia joined the hit cooking show with newcomer Jean-Christophe Novelli, starring alongside the ranks of fan-favourite MasterChef alumni Andy Allen and Poh Ling Yeow. For the last two years, Sofia has guided groups of contestants through their culinary journey in Australia’s favourite kitchen.

Despite maintaining a relatively private life, Sofia’s relationship status has gotten lots of fans talking, and in 2025, the reality TV judge squashed the rumours with her exciting engagement news, and has recently revealed her fiancé is on Instagram!

As Sofia continues her MasterChef Australia journey in 2026, we get to know more about her life away from the kitchen.

Who is Sofia Levin?

Sofia Levin is a food and travel journalist and presenter based in Melbourne. Best known for her blog and newsletter The Seasoned Traveller, Sofia is passionate about exploring and celebrating cultural diversity through food – a value that she champions through her #EatCuriously movement.

With over 15 years of experience in the industry, Sofia’s commentary has appeared in publications across the globe, including The Guardian, Lonely Planet, National Geographic, and SBS Food. More recently, Sofia Levin has been very active in the fundraising space, harnessing her ever-growing community to raise awareness and money for health issues she cares about.

In April, 2026, Sofia posted about the success of her fundraising towards people living with motor neurone disease and their carers. In the post, she thanked “the generosity of [her] beautiful community” and celebrated how they “raised $65,059 for people living with motor neurone disease and their carers.”

“I am still riding the high from transforming Wesley Place in the CBD to Caregiver’s Place,” she wrote. “We ran a mini food truck festival in the sunshine on Sunday, and put on what will easily be my favourite dinner of the year in the old School House on Monday. It’s been 10 days and people are still texting and emailing me about it!”

Is Sofia Levin engaged?

While Sofia Levin, 36, tends to keep her private life pretty under wraps, she revealed in an interview that she is happily engaged. And the identity of her fiancé was just revealed on her Instagram.

Beau Growcott is a Melbourne-based psychologist and director of Fellow Psychology in Prahran, with the pair initially meeting when they were younger, in school. “I reconnected with someone from school,” she shared. “We hadn’t really seen each other much for about 20 years. That was over a year ago now, which is wonderful. We’re engaged, which is not a secret.”

The reality TV star announced that the pair have just gone through a recent renovation, and while a wedding is definitely on the horizon, with her busy MasterChef Australia schedule at the moment, they won’t be saying “I do” anytime soon. But, what’s the rush!

“I don’t think it’ll happen anytime in the next 12 months,” she said. “There’s just too much going on. And you know, it’s nice to be engaged. You don’t get to be engaged forever, so might as well lean in.”

As the food critic preps for an exciting new MasterChef Australia season arriving April 19, 2026, her engagement is just one of many pieces of exciting news fans can look forward to for 2026.

“I think people are going to be really excited because it’s a little bit of a throwback,” she revealed. “We’re doing home cooks again this season – people are just passionate home chefs really want to give this a crack and take their life in a different direction.”

Has Sofia Levin dated in the past?

Prior to her most recent relationship, Sofia was previously linked to Epic Pizza owner Matt John. The exact timeline of the couple’s relationship remains unknown, however, Sofia did share in May 2016 that she and Matt were engaged, with the pair celebrating their wedding in September 2017.

Following their nuptials, Sofia shared photos alongside Matt regularly, however, he has not appeared on her social media since 2019.

Before Sofia confirmed her relationship with Matt, the celebrity chef was rumoured to be linked to Today presenter Karl Stefanovic, however, the MasterChef host debunked any speculation surrounding a potential romance.

“We’re just friends. I’m in the middle of planning my wedding,” Sofia told Woman’s Day at the time. “Yes, we FaceTime and text each other, but I don’t believe my relationship with Karl is at all inappropriate… We just got along really well and have stayed in touch.”

When did Sofia Levin join MasterChef Australia?

Speaking ahead of her MasterChef debut in 2024, Sofia wrote to her newsletter, “of course it’s nerve-racking, but I’m taking MasterChef as a MasterResponsibility.”

“Everyone has varying comfort zones and levels of open-mindedness, and I’ve always believed the best versions of people emerge when we expand them. What better place to teach, learn, and grow than on the world’s most popular reality cooking show.”

Since joining the show, Sofia Levin has become a beloved addition to the series, continuing the successful legacy of the judges before her.
