Bea Cukai Batam has confirmed that the investigation into the case of two containers of used goods handed over by Polresta Barelang has been fully completed. The institution is now waiting for the appropriate time to officially announce the results of the case handling to the public.
Head of the Compliance Guidance and Information Services Division of Bea Cukai Batam, Evi Oktavia, emphasized that no stages of the investigation remain pending. All examinations of physical evidence, documents, and statements from related parties have been finalized.
“The investigation into the two containers of used goods is complete. We are currently preparing to officially convey the results,” Evi said.
The case began with a raid on a warehouse in the Sagulung area conducted by Polresta Barelang. During the operation, police found two containers and three trucks. One container was discovered open, while the other was still sealed. Dozens of workers were also secured for questioning as witnesses.
Further examination revealed that the two containers were customs-seized goods that were supposed to be transferred from Batu Ampar Port to the official customs warehouse in the Tanjung Uncang area. However, the containers were instead found at the raided warehouse, raising suspicions of irregularities in the transfer route.
The presence of an official customs seal on one of the containers became a key focus of the investigation. Authorities examined the possibility of route diversion outside established procedures, including tracing the roles of parties involved in the distribution process.
In handling the case, Bea Cukai Batam stated that it had coordinated with law enforcement authorities and conducted a comprehensive internal review. Several parties, ranging from workers and transporters to those involved in supervision, were questioned to strengthen the case construction.
Evi added that the delay in publicly announcing the official results was not due to legal or technical obstacles, but rather to align with the organization’s internal schedule.
“In principle, the substance of the case handling has been completed. We are simply waiting for the right time for the official release,” she said.
