Skoda Peaq EV – Australia’s Next Electric SUV Flagship

First Glimpse of the Peaq: Skoda’s New Electric Flagship

Skoda has unveiled the initial exterior design sketches of the Peaq, its upcoming seven-seater electric SUV and new flagship model. The world premiere is scheduled for June 23, 2026, in Monnetier-Mornex, France. For Indian buyers, this development is worth noting. Skoda India has been gradually expanding its SUV range, and a seven-seat electric flagship seems to align perfectly with the direction of the premium SUV market in India. While pricing and launch details for India are not yet available, the sketches offer valuable insights into the car’s design direction.

What Do the Sketches Actually Show?

Skoda has released two sketches — one from the front and one from the rear. These detailed illustrations provide a clear understanding of the design approach.

From the front, the most notable feature is the T-shaped LED headlamps. These connect through a gloss-black panel that spans the nose of the vehicle, known as the Tech-Deck Face. Alongside a linking bar between the lamps, they form a rectangular loop that frames the entire front end. Below this, there is a bumper with a strong lower contour and a clean horizontal line, referred to by Skoda as the Volcano shape.

The side profile sketch highlights a high shoulder line that runs from front to back, paired with wide D-pillars that give the car a large and stable appearance. The door handles are flush with the bodywork, which is a common feature on many new EVs. At the rear, the T-shaped tail-lamps mirror the front exactly, maintaining the same loop motif created by the lamps and the connecting element between them. Skoda has clearly designed the Peaq to be instantly recognizable from both the front and the back.

Karl Neuhold, Head of Exterior Design at Skoda, described the approach as the brand’s Modern Solid design language — focusing on clean surfaces, structured details, and balanced proportions rather than flashy lines.

Where Does the Peaq Fit in Skoda’s Lineup?

The Peaq sits above the Enyaq, Skoda’s current top EV, and also above the Kodiaq, which is the brand’s seven-seat petrol and mild-hybrid SUV. It is the largest vehicle Skoda has ever built and will be its most premium model once it arrives. The full reveal on June 23 at 18:25 local time in France is a standalone event, not part of a motor show — indicating that Skoda views this as a significant launch.

Details about the powertrain, battery specifications, range figures, and pricing remain under wraps. However, the confirmation of seven seats and full electric propulsion is clear.

Should Indian Buyers Pay Attention?

Currently, Skoda India sells the Kylaq, Kushaq, Slavia, and Kodiaq. The brand has not made any announcements regarding bringing the Peaq to India. Considering the likely price point and the current state of premium EV infrastructure in the country, an early Indian launch seems unlikely. That said, Volkswagen Group has expressed clear ambitions for the EV market in India over the coming years. A seven-seat electric flagship from Skoda would address a gap that no existing product currently fills. The June 23 reveal is the key date to watch, as full specifications and any market rollout information should be announced then.
