Future hangs on ‘yes’ vote: Land adviser’s warning

The Importance of Public Participation in the Upcoming Referendum

Land Adviser Ali Imam Majumder recently emphasized that the future of the country hinges on the public’s decision to vote ‘Yes’ in the upcoming referendum. His remarks were made during a view-exchange meeting held at the Collectorate in Kushtia, where he served as the chief guest. The event aimed to promote the referendum and encourage voter participation.

“You are the owners of the country. It depends on you who will run the country,” he said, highlighting the crucial role of citizens in determining the nation’s direction. The adviser urged everyone to support the referendum by casting their votes for ‘Yes.’ He also stressed that candidates would seek the public’s vote, and it is their right to choose whom they believe should lead the country.

The Land Adviser further assured the audience that officials, including the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police under the Election Commission, would ensure that no one could interfere with the voting process. “You will cast your vote for the mark you like, and no one can obstruct you,” he stated, reinforcing the importance of free and fair elections.

Contributions of the July Uprising

In addition to his comments on the referendum, the adviser acknowledged the sacrifices made by those who participated in the July Uprising. He described their efforts as a significant contribution to the nation’s progress. “The dream of running the country in a new way, beyond conventional paths, was the aspiration of the July warriors,” he explained. This vision inspired the creation of the July National Charter 2025.

The charter was developed through coordination with various reform commissions, aiming to transform the existing political culture. According to the adviser, all political parties have signed this charter, signifying a collective commitment to these reforms.

Key Figures at the Meeting

The event was presided over by Kushtia Deputy Commissioner Md Iqbal Hossain, who played a central role in organizing the gathering. District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Jasim Uddin, along with the District Information Officer and District Election Officer, also addressed the attendees. Their presence underscored the significance of the meeting and the broader goal of mobilizing public support for the referendum.

A Call for Unity and Action

The meeting served as a platform for dialogue and encouragement, emphasizing the need for unity among citizens. By participating in the referendum, individuals have the power to shape the future of the country. The Land Adviser’s message was clear: the success of the nation depends on the active involvement of its people.

As the referendum approaches, the call to action remains strong. Citizens are reminded that their voices matter and that their choices will influence the direction of the country. With the support of local officials and community leaders, the event highlighted the importance of civic responsibility and the potential for positive change through collective effort.
